Hi. My name is Nikki and I'm addicted to downloading.

Things started out slowly. A song here, a movie there. Nothing serious. Then I found the K-Lite board and verified files, and my downloads started to climb. My bandwidth could no longer keep up with my downloading so I got and ULTRA high speed connection, to download more.

This continued on for month, one filesharing app after another, K-Lite, Soulseek, BitTorrent, FTP, IRC... until, finally, I had filled up every hard drive I had on my network. 400 GB worth. I had to start burning it all... then I had a thought... why not just get bigger hard drives? So after burning literally hundreds of CD's, I bought more hard drives and added them to the network. All was going fine, until I found that I had filled those up too. The problem was, I had no more drive bays in any of my computers. But I found a solution to that too. I started buying external hard drives.

Then the biggest roadblock of all. I had to move, and I couldn't take my ULTRA high speed connection with me. I had to slow down to 1mbps/128kbs... I was mortified. How would I ever cope? I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, I started shaking uncontrollably. The first week after my move was the worst. I was left with no internet connection whatsoever, and the withdrawl was unbearable. How to cope...

Two weeks later, I have started to calm down a bit having realized, I only have to put up with this for another month or so, and then I'll be moving to a new place, where 3mbps isn't just a dream, it's a reality. So now I just bide my time, waiting, watching, planning all my downloads carefully so as not to blow my bandwidth caps... until the day I'm free again.

I can only suggest you delete all p2p software and see how you cope.

Maybe go and buy the odd movie from a shop.

If the syptoms persist I recommend seeing a shrink a.s.a.p

Formatting of all hard drives is a must.

And i have trouble with, well....

Once, my computer messed up and i couldnt
get on the internet for 3 WEEKS. :'(

Everyday when I got home and turned the comp on,
all my filesharing clients would popup and tell me they couldnt
connect. I sadly weeeped for each of them. :'(
I couldnt do ANYTHING, I was so bored that i had to actually
do some WORK at home! :'(

What's worse: I couldnt access the K-lite Board!!!!
I missed all the people there (especially NikkiD ;) )
And I even missed all those Spam and Flame Topics!!! :o

It felt like dieing, I couldnt breathe, I was trapped in my
own prison!! :'(




But now I have my comp fixed and everything is fine!!


What have I learned from this?
If all else fails, REFORMAT AND REINSTALL

Why must you keep all your downloads?

Watch and delete, and share the latest stuff. Surely all the latest stuff can&#39;t be more then 300GB

Yah, I only keep maybe 500 megabytes of stuff... Mostly porn, or for that matter all porn.

***************STATUS UPDATE******************

It is now almost 3 months since I first admitted to my downloading problem. Well a lot has happened since then.

I drastically cut back my downloads, I had to, my bandwidth just couldn&#39;t keep up. Plus, I was paying double for my internet connection, because I kept blowing all my bandwidth caps. :&#39;( So I limited myself to a couple days a month in SoulSeek, and the odd audio or video file from a friend.

Well, that&#39;s all over now. WHY, you may ask? CAUSE I GOT MY 3MBIT DSL BACK BABY&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33; It was activated yesterday, and in just a few short hours, I was back on IRC running my fserv, back on SoulSeek, and running 4 different BitTorrent downloads.

I know I&#39;m not cured, but who cares? I&#39;m happy and that&#39;s all that really matters isn&#39;t it?. :D

And I thought I was the only one. I have more games installed than I could ever possibly play in my lifetime. In fact I rarely have time to play at all, since I&#39;m constantly downloading. I live in fear every day that Comcast is going to cut me off for abuse. :lol:

I&#39;ve been addicted ever since i have internet.........

Where once i had enough with dl&#39;n 1 mb a day, now 10 gig&#39;s a day is what i dl....

And my dealer keeps giving me more bandwith, that doesn&#39;t help either.
