Man you must not be American.
It's one of the best shows ever made and easily in my top five.
I have never seen a show tackle so many facets of a city having them intertwine and most importantly, be interesting and entertaining.
I am sad this is the last season (s5).
Another thing as well is that there are so many interesting characters (even the minor ones) but the creators weren't afraid to take some out (via death or jail).
HBO is going to go through horrible rough patch with their series. No more Sopranos or Wire.

It's very realism-based. If you like that sort of thing it's brilliant.

i just downloaded season 1. im 3 epidsodes into it and it's great....kinda like the shield but alot better

I will warn you. The worst season is season 2.
It follows the B'more docks workers and the union.
It's great.

I really like it! I only started downloading and watching it a while ago ( I'm on season 3 now ).

That is the only pb with The Wire .Once in a season,never out until the last episode (Well almost since we are talking about 12 or 13*55 mn) !
I've seen all four seasons in the conditions described by Skizo and they are ALL fantastic.This is rare enough to be mentionned.

I was in the dark untill recently I saw light at end of the tunnel and watched 5 seasons straight. Great series :)
It is a bit slow moving series so its not for those who want gunfire and explosions every 2 seconds. Very addictive.
Season 5 is last one, right?

I see one episode ahead On Demand. For instance, I have seen this Sunday's episode last Sunday so there's only 2 episodes left.
How have you seen the last 2 episodes?

It really is a GOOD show! (if you like gritty crime dramas). I love how they weave all the various sub-plots together. Bad thing is, this is the final season.

Yup. Must download. You can virtually find season 1-4 on almost any General 0-day tracker. Also The Wire is currently in it's final season, season 5, 10 episodes. All i can do now is wait for season 3 of Dexter on Showtime. HBO is all dried up after The Wire ends. I was on the set near where they film The Wire. My aunt lives in Baltimore and some of my peoples knows Melvin Williams (Avon Barksdale is based on him). The setting, conditions, and crime is just like the way the series portrays it. It doesn't behoove anyone to live in those gritty conditions.

Currently at Season 5 Episode 9 if you have HBO (On Demand). They show every new episode one week in advance (On Demand only). There are only 1-2 episodes left. 10 episodes total.

The best hbo series. I'd be totally bereft when season 5 ends. Best to watch each season all at a go. Completely absorbing.

I am a "fresh" addict of this show and must admit: it is great! As S01 aired in 2001 (I believe), I understand the 4:3 ratio. I am currently underway collecting all seasons and it seems that all through season 4 are 4:3. Am I missing something here?

I will definitely get this on Blu-Ray....just not for a super high-price.
The show is a rare masterpiece.

by far the best show i have ever watched....nothing else even comes close in completeness and character/plot development.
in the end everything came back full circle and the way the show finished was absolutely fine with me.

Have to watch from Ep one to fully enjoy the show(do not worry. It starts slow,by the 3rd Episode it is awesome) ;) Best series on TV. Ever!
