Some people like to think, Herbert.
Your comment reminded me of a line in a Bill Hicks gig.
He said that he was sitting in a diner reading a book and the waitress came up to him and said; 'What are you reading for?'.

Did he reply.

Did he reply.
Yeah.
He said; 'I'm reading because I want to learn, to broaden my horizons, to find out what other people think about this world. In short, I'm reading because I don't want to end up working as a fucking waffle waitress'.

Yeah but they should never have given him the Breakast Show.
Ruined him - you never hear of him any more.

Isn't he still on radio 2?
Something Else

I had no idea about that. I just listen to his old stuff (the one liners) repeatedly.

I duno. I never listen to the radio owing to it being shite. From what I hear, tho', Radio 2 is for old people, n'est-ce pas.
I used to listen to Steve Wright in the Afternoon in the car with my parents. Before CDs were invented, obviously.

Didn't you just hate it when it finished and that twunt Bruno Brookes started :pinch:
I only ever listen to Virgin radio

You know, I think I did.
I remember the Steve Wright in the Afternoon' jingle and then not liking it much when it changed.
I never got to listen to him in the morning 'cos I walked to school (sans radio, obviousement) and Mam used to pick me up in the car.
In which year did this travesty occur??

Nay nay nay, you've misunderstood - Bruno Brookes presented "drive time", which started at 5 pm every day after Steve Wright finished. You were probably at home by then. :idunno:
Steve Wright in the afternoon went on until 1994 apparently, and then he got shunted to the breakfast show, as you said.
Anyway, I think we've confused Benjamin enough with this nonsense :whistling

Anyway, I was gonna say earlier but got sidetracked.
I like to think that Bill Hicks would look upon FST (if he wasn't dead, like) and see Herbert as the waffle waitress.
I certainly see him and his lolboy ilk as such.
