In XP home, it is more compatible to gaming gear and all the other stuff than xp professional right? then why would people choose over professional than xp home? (tell me if this has been mentioned before..)

Trust me..................you should get xp professional its much more better than xp home edition and has way more features.

Yeah, but when i had professional it seemed to have compatibility problems.. so i actually bought a legit copy of xp home.. and the compatibility problems went away.. =\

XP home is a cripled version of XP pro. (could have been worded better but you get the idea.) home does not have anything that pro does not have. Pro gives better support for PRO type thngs like large networks, and some other little stuff that does not really affect an average user.

So like.. the average things that we use ("non-pro") wont really work that well with pro..? correct me if im wrong >_<

I went the exact opposite route...

I upgraded from home to professional because I knew that XP home was nothing more than a "censored" version of the XP os. And because I wanted better control over user function/groups, file encryption, etc...

This is the first time I ever heard of anybody having anything negative to comment regarding pro versus home.

I think that your "compatibility" issues went away because you replaced/ repaired important files during the install process. You would have generated the same results by simply re-installing XPpro. And saved yourself some money.

The compatibility issue was a headset that i bought.. it didnt come with software, you just plug it in usb and xp would install for you..

Just wondering why Microsoft doesn't detect the same Activation serial key when you activate a downloaded copy of Windows XP from here....maybe Mr. gates isn't as smart as he looks??? Ya Think?? Hmmm?? :-"

Maybe because there are only a few different masters that can use about 20 different keys. Just because one's been used, doesn't mean that's it for that number. When you activate most MS software now, an inventory of your hardware is created and combined with your computer ID and the 5x5 key to produce a unique "product key". That's all that matters. The 5x5 key becomes almost redundant.
