Lol, Nelly and Jarule are not hardcore! They are Hollywood-ized rappers ..just like 50 cent.

NAS maybe..Wu Tang Clan is probably the most "hardcore" of the "well knowns" in my opinion. David Banner is pretty hardcore IMO and Chingy is allright too...to name some popular ones.

Notorious B.I.G., Scarface, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Ice-T. NWA, and KRS 1 aren't as popular these days as they used to be but they are all definiteley hardcore in my book.

What do you mean by hardcore anyway.. someone who puts on a front to pretend to be hardcore (50 Cent) or someone who really is (NWA, Public Enemy). I think hardcore doesnt mean getting shot 9 times, it means rapping about shit besides bitches and drugs, and thats what the quality rappers do.

i agree totaly with everybody regarding 50 cent, just because he got shot 9 times doesnt mean he can rap and the only way he got famous cuz he made fun of ja rule, and there was a time when everybody liked ja rule then suddenly 50 cent came into the picture and dissed him and now everybody hates ja rule. and artists/groups like scarface, run dmc, nwa, afrika bambaataa are the real stars.

the first i heard of 50 was "how to rob"

there are quite a few posthumous collabs though...50 cent and big, 50 cent and pac are two of the most recent

Notorious gangsta rapper X-Raided was born Anarae Jones in Waco, TX, and raised primarily in Sacramento, CA. Shortly after releasing his 1992 debut LP Psycho Active, he was convicted on murder charges -- in fact, the album's violent lyrics were even cited as evidence at the trial. While languishing in prison, X-Raided managed to record another album entirely over the telephone, a painstaking process eventually yielding 1995's Xorcist. Unforgiven followed four years later and Initiation was issued in early 2001. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide ;)

Almost all Memphis rap is extremely hard.
Kingpin Skinny Pimp, Playa Fly, 8 Ball & MJG
There's the large Hypnotize crew; Three Six, Project Pat, The Kaze

In the Midwest; Twista, Eminem, Dayton Family, ICP
West Coast; NWA, Ice T, Mac Mall, Brotha Lynch Hung
East Coast? I like Kool Keith's music(Dr. Octagon), not so much g or thug, but bizarre and unpredictable.

The craziest of all, probably some old Geto Boys. A guy I know saw them live years ago, he said Bushwick Bill was on stage dressed like Chucky from Childs Play. That is hardcore.

It all depends on your defination of hardcore rap.

You have club rap like, Nelly.
You have gutta rap like most of 3 six mafia, and all of Project Pat.
And then you also have Dope Boy Rap like what the south is doing. Lil Wayne and Such.

So it really depends on your defination.
