Thought the lounge was the best place for this.

I remember a while back you said something about you building PC's, and as you stay within about 40 miles of me, i was wondering if you could give me the spec of the best PC you could build for me with a budget of £400 (don't need monitor, keyboard, mouse or speakers), that's including whatever you take for yourself for the building of it etc.

It wouldn't need to be a flying machine with all the bells and whistles. £400 is about as far as i could stretch, as i'm going into 3rd year at uni, and i currently have about £3000 of debts (NOT including my student loan :P)

I was going to build my own, but i don't have the time to source the best value parts because i have resits soon, then back to uni in October, and i figure you already have an idea of where to get stuff at a reasonable price. (i know you'll be busy starting uni soon too)

Even if you could suggest parts that are a decent compromise between price/performance, and maybe where to get them, i could build the bad boy myself.

Many thanks.

Have you tried a look here.

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/home.html

It's where I got mine, the value is very good. There is also economy of scale on parts. You'd be hard pushed to build your own cheaper particularly if you can get it without an OS. ;)

They supply all of the driver disks anyway so it's just a case of installing an OS then the relevant drivers. Piece of pi$$ if you have a modicum of experience.

Are PC Geeks allowed girlfriends?

:)

I don't think he's a geek. He's far too nice.

Look at what he does for a living, and then answer your own question. And since he has you, I would assume he has a girlfriend... Unless there's something you ain't telling us Weemouse. (J/K)
But hey, geeks are nice. Look at me. Nicely stoned is I.

Celery - Well, Lamsey is ruled out on the first one!
Geeks are nice, but they tend to talk about computers in technical language. Lamsey is not a real geek cos he realises when i'm not listening, and sometimes uses words that i can understand :)

thank you Lamsey :flowers:
