1. Can I plug a USB key in the PS3 and play Divx/Xvid files?

2. Exactly how can I share all my media from my PC to the PS3.

The PS3 is a upconvert DVD player and media player.

I could play all my DVD rips and TV downloads from my PC on it (I have over a TB of movies).

My PS3 is connected to my router via ethernet (ran a jack downstairs).

Help please.

This would be my ultimate setup.

Also will the PS3 upconvert shared media? For instance, will it upconvert American Gangster from my PC hard drive to HD?

TVersity can stream divx/xvid to ps3. and probably some other programs.

and yea, it upconvert the vids to whatever resolution you be running at.

one thing i hate though, which may not be a problem with your setup, is the TV overscan.

if i watch anime on my tv the subtitles are cut off, so i dont even bother with watching vids on my ps3 anymore.
'cause i hate that i'm not seeing the whole image.

if only it had something like XBMC where i could adjust the screen size.

Are all your dvdrips on an external HDD like most people have it?

You could just plug the external HDD into your PS3 and play all the xvid/avi files off of it.

Also, I've never had any overscan problems yet... knock on wood.

Damn I forgot I have a modded Xbox with XBMC.:ermm:

I will check out TVersity.

So I'll be able to upconvert a Xvid file to 1080i? Fucking sweet.

I rather stream than to have a hard drive downstairs as long as the streaming is worry free.

Also can I fwd/rwd and select chapter from a rip....if it's from my PC?

if you're streaming.. i think you can't fast forward or rewind, and no skipping to chapters.

dude, just use xbmc. its way better, if all you are going to watch is non-hd divx/xvid movies.
