alright so my isp throttles and i upload at like 5kb/sec. That is freeeeeking slow. I need some help or suggestions on why this is the case.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/242286837.png <- that's my speedtest. I should be uploading at around 80kb/sec - 100kb/sec

http://i27.tinypic.com/73knqx.jpg <- wth is going on there!

Please help me! Any suggestions. I pick my torrents good. Trust me. and uhh the yellow thing is green now so no worries on that. I just opened utorrent.

Thanks for ur help fst!

My friend has same isp, crappier package, and can upload at 60kb/sec! WHYYYYY? Is it my computer?

Your isp is Rogers. They are well known for bandwidth shaping torrent traffic. Usually downloads run alright but when uploading they cap me at around 10 kB/s. Using encryption does not help since they throttle all encrypted traffic, including your encrypted email, logins etc. The throttling though is based on ip. Your friend may have one of their older ip's which isn's affected as much.
Obviously this is a pain if you are trying to maintain a decent ratio on the good sites (couple it with their monthly transfer cap and it is a royal pain in the ass)
I get around it by using a seedbox. It is outside the rogers network, uploads and downloads my torrent traffic, and I get the files by ftp.

While you are looking for other method to counter the throttling, try doing the seeding after midnight. My isp throttled my connection most hrs of the day but it goes normal after 1 am until around 8-9am the next morning.

Mine is mostly on 24/7 too, but after midnight I do selective seeding. That way I get to pick what tracker I channeled my bandwidth to.

Use some weird port that is not normally used by bittorrent clients and yes making sure encryption is enabled is a plus. I think that's all that is needed. I can get full speed uploading and I know my ISP uses traffic shapping.

Since broadband came out with them in 1998. Oh nice I only need like 1000 more for my 5 stars. Yeah I heard Rogers does the same with bittorrent.

try uTorrent 1.8 Beta Build 6806

Does anyone know if this version of uTorrent is known to help against Sandvine (traffic-shaping program used by Comcast)? Forced encryption and other suggested methods haven't helped, and my ratios are really suffering.

... At least you still could download and upload with ur ISP.

I could get 0 upload and 0 download these days from the 2mbps i used to get. i don't want to mention ISP in ASIA. THis is what i call throttling. ahhh.. heard that Utorrent and gang are coming up with new encrypt methods. hope that they will come out soon.

Stuck with the freaking isp for 3 more mths due to a contract i signed 2 years ago. After i swear i would change.

This version uTorrent 1.8 Beta Build 6806 deters the TS (traffic shaping)
Don't forget to ENABLE the encryption...

Or this new client deluge-0.5.8.5

tell as the results

"TRAFFIC SHAPING IS PROGRAMM TO -B L O C K- P2P CONNECTIONS
(only that)"

do not try speed test , it does not have meaning to test the connection for TS

Use the latest beta of utorrent, it uses quite succesfully a new type of encryption.

I use Rogers in the Toronto area. My typical torrent upload is under 10 kB/s combined for all my torrents.
Today as a test I loaded up utorrent 1.8. My uploads went to my max which is around 100 kB/s. It looks like the new encryption they are using is fooling the Rogers monitoring software for now. Until Rogers catches up, this looks like the client to use on their network.

I am glad to hear that. :D There are also a lot of improvements in the latest beta mainly in disk writes/reads management that make the new beta a must have.

Also keep in mind that if you need help with utorrent you simply can go and post in their forums, there are a lot of guys there ready to help you. :)
