What is the lowest movie quality that you tolerate or for that matter the most frequent, as an uploader on a few sites I like to mostly upload Xvids, but there is always a request for a DVD-R rip of it, or an HD request which makes me wander, are the majority of torrenters moving away from xvid to better quality?

Lowest is DVD Screener DivX for me actually.

I will occasionally watch an xvid, but much prefer DVDRs or x264. I wish DVDR was really the standard.

I'd settle for xvid, but would prefer 720p if possible.

Sometimes I download xvids if there is no other choice, but I also prefer DVDRs (R5, DVDScreener or DVDRip)

If I'm watching on the PC, 7201/p is the lowest I'll settle for; if on the TV, nothing less than DVDR-R5.

i'd say 90% of the stuff i watch now is 720p/1080p. but some movies are impossible to find in HD so i still do watch xvids/dvdrs occasionally.

Xvid unless I know the movie is gonna have great effects where I'd want better quality.

But typically I just download xvid, and if I like the movie I download DVD-R/some sort of HD rip.

I, for one, HATE when packs are DVDR and there isn't an xvid pack with the same movies. It doesn't completely relate, but it's something that upset me today. :P

i dont really care. i have an xvid dvd player and i dont have a hi-def television so xvids do me just fine. i dont have much need for dvd menus. i just want to see the fucking movie.

for some odd reason i download the cams of movies that i dont give a shit about and watch them while i play pinochle online

XtriBit

I usually go for xvid because of my connection, but on the better movies I will get 720 HD.

my dl is slow and xvids are fine quality so i stick to those rather then downloading a huge 720p release.

Depends on the movie:
Classic movie that I want to see for ever and ever ---> the best quality I can find
Ok movie that I enjoyed ---> DVD-R 5 or less

ill get the dvd5 iso if im gonna watch on my tv (dvd9 dvds are way more expensive than dvd5's which is why i go for the compressed one)

on my computer i'm not too picky, i'll get x264 or xvid, normally whichever has the higher quality/ fastest speed

Lowest I'd settle for is CAM, but that's only in extremes. I usually wait until R5 and DVDR

Xdiv is good enough for me... DVD5 some times.

The Wanderer
03-07-2008, 07:55 AM
I used to watch xvid rips pretty often, but then I got a powerful computer and started watching movies in 1080p or 720p (esir releases are the best).

But to answer to your question dvdrip xvid is the lowest quality I watch, never CAM or R5.

briand5379
03-07-2008, 08:29 AM
I'd say a decent quality Xvid R5 or TS.

xxxfafaxxx
03-07-2008, 09:09 AM
At least DVDscr or R5

danio
03-07-2008, 10:57 AM
dvdscreener is the lowest i can watch. but i usually wait for a lined R5 instead, so that's usually the lowest quality i watch.

If I absolutely cannot find the DVDR of the movie I'm looking for, I will take it in XViD and convert it. That only happens rarely though.

I just watch DVDRs, don't like DVDrips because I watch them at my TV with subs, and sometimes subs aren't in line with audio and other problems. I don't have a HD TV so I don't need HD. :)

necromantic

I really can't stand watching non HD content, 720p all the way. Call me spoiled if you want, but I won't watch a DVD unless I'm really hard up.

i dont mind a semi low quality, as long as the entire screen is shown and volume is decent

03-08-2008, 03:36 AM
I prefer XviD cause for me it's good quality at medium filesize. I can also play them back at my TV which I can't with x264.

I am more inclined to get 720p versions where possible at the moment. xvid dvdrips are fine quality for me, on a 15" laptop, but I don't like the way longer movies are split in 2.

I can't watch movies on my monitor, the screen is too small. I use my Xbox 1 as my media center unit. If it could play HD content or HD rips then that's all I would watch but for now DVD and Xvid will do. I just can't wait till homebrew can be ran on the Xbox 360.
