tell them it was an error, before they come to check ur pc, defragment all ur HD, stash all ur cds in ur attic, underground or sumthin, install ur old os, update ur pc as if it wasnt defragmented, install some freeware software, or some you own so you can prove its urs and so it looks like it was used for a while...think about it anyway, they aint loosin much $$, the game industry racks in 10 billion big $$ a year, movies like lara croft[the first] made 130 mil $$ (source=latest EGM) and for the music industry, not many artists accualy make money off their cd because they pay their debts for creating the cds (-$_,_ _ _,_ _ _ u guess) and only a few big time artist as eminem, snoop dogg, p diddy, nelly ect make mosny of their cd when they make more then they spent on the cd creation and anyway 94% of their incomes are from TV preformances, tours, concerts ect... basically, their winning anyway....did u ever c mtv cribs? or ''its good to be ..." on VH1? look at the shit they got plus the taxes on that...you do the math....

Paranoid people should always:

fdisk mbr/fdisk -delete partition(s)/recreate partition(s)/format & reinstall os.

Then find ways of not broadcasting one's ip address to the dark side.

Lol they get the info from your ISP. Also the RIAA is a company they ain't the police, if the police come knocking you haven't got time to format. Even if you do you need to do the level 7 standard. Because shit can still be recovered with powerful software.

It's not the letter I'd be concerned about. It's the fact they know my address. ;)

fdisk is no good

you need a program that can write 0's on all sectors of your harddrive

There#s enough freeware that does exactly this.

Having a "clean" hdd and a second external device seems quite secure.
(dont hide the device in your home!)

This is a stupid post with even more responses.

If you get a letter and/or subpoena from the RIAA(or others), than it's to late. They already have the evidence they need. Otherwise their lawyers would have never filed the lawsuit in the first place.

It's inane to think you need to hide your hardware or format your harddrive.
Whatever, it's too late.
