I felt that neither ending was very true to the spirit of the book {which is decidedly dark},but that didn't bother me.Between the two I liked the theatrical release much better because of it's poignancy.Even if he couldn't win Robert Neville never surrendered.

I don't think I care for either endings.
I do prefer the original though, I suppose.
It seems to mesh better in how they did the first part of the movie.

I don't need a happy ending, but the ending they used really caught me off guard in a bad way.
