Help with usingDC++ and a firewall

I'm trying to use DC++ here at college cause I've heard it's great to get older content. Well, my problem is that 1) I'm a noob at this junk, and 2) every time I try to connect to a user, I get "Your direct connect client has supplied an invalid IP address in a connection request (client sent..blah blah blah)". How do I curb this and fix it so that I can connect?

Hmmm...could well be that because you're using this from a college PC they disabled the use of any P2P-app.

Are you able to use any other P2P-app like BT, Limewire etc ???

I can't use LimeWire....but I did get this working...took a bit of tinkering, but it works now. I have no idea what buttons I pushed though :D
