Cheers! 51 is the new black or something (or is Michael Jackson the new black - I lose track, must be the Alzheimers :ermm:)

Having a quiet day and going up to Glasgow for a meal with family on Friday night.

Just bought cream cakes for all in the office though.

Cream cakes FTW :01:

Many happy returns of the day, Les.

My missus works for the civil service too (ONS) and on her birthday, in direct contravention of hundreds of years of tradition, she takes cakes in to give to other people.
WTF is this public sector witchery.

I never did understand that tradition. I generally have the day off on mine to avoid it :shifty:.

Tsk! wicked cake dodger! :nono:

By buying on one's birthday you buy only once in the year. Otherwise it would be necessary to chip in every month to some birthday or other.

No no no, you're confused. It's your age. You neither eat anyone else's or bring your own in. I can always claim it's because I'm a veggie and don't eat non free-range eggs :shifty:.

The perennial 'piss stinks' tag has given this particular thread a retirement home feel.

It's clocker's fault I was put in mind of that.
Whenever my Grandad's (slightly more old) friends came to see him, they'd always call him young 'un despite him being in his seventies. It must be some kind of old person humour.

I thought you had passed away months ago! I'm glad to see you're still kicking.
Happy Birthday, Les!

May your glass be ever full.
May the roof over your head be always strong.
And may you be in heaven half an hour
before the devil knows you're dead.

I'm happy to have you leading this particular parade, Les - I'll be entering my sixth decade in July, and will quiz you soon on the topic of, Hey, what's that like?

Happy Birthday, sir, and many, many more. :D

As to the physical aspect, I'm with you completely; I was a bit of a monster back then.

Apart from that, there is absolutely no way I'd choose thirty over fifty - I'm a much more multi-faceted monster now.

Thanks Chalice - I fancy growing old disgracefully.

There is that, too.

There is a point at which the "growing old" part commences...I'm damned if I know when it is, though. :whistling
