Might be ok now...but it was messing up just long enuff for me to check out softmp3. Don't think I'll be returning to stm any time soon. :)

doesnt STM have like.. exponentially more torrents than softmp3? or has softmp3 grown really fast in the last while

Yes ST has declined as of late but it will be back. They are probably just doing some serious maintenance to the tracker to better optimize it. Give it time.

Why has STM also removed the torrent statistics? like numbers, peers etc. Really strange

Maybe the frequent server up & down prevented them from collecting those informtion (or just don't want to be compared with other music trackers? :D)...
