i have bad experience with metals.

i don't think the question was about the best metal, but if it was, i'd have to go for iron

we wouldn't be alive without it

but then that can be said about all of the metals listed i suppose

to give you a semi-serious answer - i hate touching coins, specifically the 1 and 2 pence variety. i'm not allergic as such, but i hate the smell and the "feel" left on my hands. i know i'm not the only person, but some people may find this weird. i've worked on cash registers before in part-time work, and it grew to be less of a problem, and now i'm not really bothered.

I suppose then it would be OK to cross your palm with silver. Or would that leave bloody big hoof prints all over them? :)
