I have a bunch of AVIs and was curious what program people normally use to put them on a DVD.

I figure I'll find out best here ;)

Thanks.

Convert them to play on a DVD player so I can chill out on the couch and watch them. What program inside Nero the others referring to? I dont think Nero has a DVD authoring program.

Use nero to burn directly to disk. I have an XviD player :)

mbucari1, it makes sense why people use Nero now that you bring up the fact some DVD players support DIVX or XviD. I didnt even think of that possibility since I have an old DVD player.

I just burn data files to my dvd and play on my softmodded xbox. In that case I use ImgBurn data dvd

Or just stream it over ;)

I think it's worth the money (~$50) not to have to wait 30+ minutes to watch your movie. That's longer than it took to download :dabs:

ConvertXtoDVD is the way to go because it has way more options than just watching the xvid file on your TV. It allows multiple audio streams, subtitles and you can even put multiple avis together onto one disk. Also the quality does not change that much.

I use CyberLink PowerProducer 3.7 to convert them to DVD files (.vobs etc) & burn. I love that it supports widescreen.

+1 for convertxtodvd - if I want to make a menu and stuff.

and... for burning, i've recently been converted from nero to ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/). It's pretty sexy.

I just installed the other day version 3, quite a bit of difference to it, I've converted two avi so far, and watched one, so far from the one I watched it's doing a nice job...

I've been using ConvertXtoDvd for years now and it's getting better and better.

Simply drag and drop your .avi file into it's interface and providing you have it's burner enabled just hit convert and it will convert and burn the video files for you.... having said that I convert with ConvertX and burn the video files with either Nero or CloneDvd from slysoft.....

I'm really disappointed in Convertx lately what with the new versions and are they Beta or RC ? Gee who do they think they are Nero ?

They need to put out a Micro or Lite version as the new one sucks ! Too much memory being sucked up , menus I'll never use , just a fucked idea . I would recommend anyone with a slow " p4 " computer just use the pre #3 version anthing 2 as it's awesome . Something like

I actually find the new ConvertX to be the best yet!

They were putting out version 2.xxxxx for a long time and recently released version 3 Final. That lasted a week or so lol and now they are going 3.xx Beta again.

I find version 3 to be the fastest yet used on the normal settings with great results.

Most of my downloaded movies are .avi but I also download .mkv files (HD) and ConvertX will also convert them to video files too so that's a plus also

Sorry to hear, if you care to you should share your thoughts on it at their forum, they seem pretty open over there to listening and fixing.

v3 for me is running great...

For some time now I have been using windows DVD maker for my family videos. It's one of the few worthwhile things to come with Vista.

I use winavi it is quick, usually takes about 20-30 minutes to convert. Supports adding subtitels and has a generic menu added in if you so choose.

Just my advice, buy one that plays MP3-DVD's (yes 50 hours on one disk) as well. Pioneer, Philips and Yamaha do the job just fine...
