Would anyone be kind enough to give me a step by step guide of how to rip a dvd, or at least provide a link to a website which can tell me.

Cheers!

Dvd Decrypter can be used to rip your personal DVDs for backups.

DVD Decrypter-> http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/

DVD Decrypter Guide
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/dvddec.htm

if for some reason that don't work you could try a program like RipIt4Me

As for guide on how to use it see below.

Umm dont use dvddecrypter anymore. They no longer update and the same team is working on imgburn. Just google it and dl it. The website also has guides on how to rip a 1:1 copy of a dvd into an iso file. You can just mount that iso with Daemon tools and enjoy your dvd.

Don't use DVD Decrypter, old and outdated...

DVDFab is better, and they have a free version too.

It depends on what kind of DVD it is. It is a PC game, a console game, or a movie? For consoles and PC games, DVDDecrypter is fine. For movies, I would visit www.cdfreaks.com for advices and tutorials. Personally, I never went wrong with DVDDecrypter + DVDShrink. Not the highest quality, but fast and satisfactory.

Im talking about ripping a dvd9 to a dvd5 without losing significant quality.
I usually do this using DVD Decrypter and then i recode it using Procoder in DVDRebuilder. It takes times but you get the best quality possible

1cickdvd copy with dvd43. It's simple, it does the job and it allows you to choose what to keep and what to discard (subtitles, extras etc.) simply insert your original, click start, then when prompted insert blank dvd and it will burn it.

I can't believe you people that are saying Dvd Decrypter is out dated, maybe for blueray but a combination of Decrypter, Dvdshrink and Anydvd in the background is still one of the best ways to rip and resize a dvd. If you install Decrypter first and then Shrink, Dvdshrink will see Decypter is there and put it in its "burn with" selection. Dvd Decrypter is old but so is Nero6, and Nero6 is ten times better than 7 or 8, so old is not necessarily worse. Rather, Decrypyter is frozen in time at its peak, and we don't have to worry about some idiots taking it over and ruining it like they did with Nero.
