Mr Nails you seem to enjoy this type of movie.
Have you ever seen the film "Heat".
DeNiro and Pacino again plus a truly legendary gunfight(considered by some the greatest ever filmed).Really top notch Michael Mann.

personally i thought this movie was a let down. didn't like the narrative feel this movie provided. i thought deniro & pacino did a good job just like they always do, but it seems just bland. they've did better. 5/10

Sitting in the theater as that gunfight progressed, I actually started laughing.
I think there have been wars that were shorter and used less ordinance.
One of the most over the top film scenes ever.

It's been a long time since either Pacino or De Niro did anything but phone in performances that are more than just caricatures.
I might see Righteous Kill when it comes out on DVD but have little hope for it.

Laugh if you will but Michael Mann's style has always been orchestra rather than acoustic.
It isn't very personal but when it works (like in a couple of my favorite movies Last of the Mohicans and The Jericho Mile),it can be very emotional (and entertaining) none the less.

No argument here.

I think the most visceral gunfight in recent movies is in Children of Men when the army moves into the Bexhill refugee camp.
The street battles in Blood Diamond were effective as well.

Mann's work is too stylized for me.

OK but they under-utilized Deniro and Pacino horribly.

I have no clue what i would use both those actors for in one movie.
hmm,
Maybe as side role, as waiters or something.
or use the jcvd method, self reflective (but not together or why not) documentary style.
They are so overcharged with references it is difficult to use them.
