View Full Version : Why Is Forum Here Instead Of Usenet?

I've been browsing around here trying to learn some more about K-Lite, and I've found this forum's interface to be really cumbersome -- so many more hassles compared to getting information through an old-fashioned Usenet newsgroup. Is there a good reason for having this forum here instead of as a regular newsgroup?

Move this to the lounge, so the lizards can have some fun with it. :D

This is a joker, he goes here under different alias's...... Nagler, Uter and probably a few more. He is a discontent but quite refined. Placing 'worry' posts every now and then.

Look.....1 post!....there has been a ton of new people recently that only make 1 freakin post and then the next day we get like 20 more that make 1 post and then no more posts....just 1. I bet some are RIAA spies!

Neither a troll nor an RIAA spy, I was asking a real question.

Seriously, why is all of this pointing, clicking, and waiting for web pages to load a better experience than reading a forum through a newsreader? Since my question got bounced to off-topic land, I figure I must be missing something really simple.

What's the appeal of this interface? Is it the clickable smileys? :)

I'm not ragging on the group. I've collected several pieces of useful info here and am grateful.

Simple, if I want news, I'll read a newspaper, or as you put it, use a newsreader.

This isn't news, it's a forum - a place to meet and discuss things.

Can you explain the difference? This system is popular, maybe it is all the clicking. Look you come on as a new member and you start with your first post to kick it.

Then how the hell are people gonna post stupid stuff like you? ;)
