If the network continues to exist than stopping Kazaa/K-Lite will not have any affect on it.

Remember, Kazaa/K-Lite is merely [one piece of] software using a specific protocol to connect to others.

There are no "servers" to shut down.

There will always be mp3 sharing. It existed before Napster and it existed after it.

Think about what happened to Napster. For a long time it was the best p2p program. But when it went belly-up, newer and better programs were designed to fill the void. So if Kazaa would somehow cease functioning, new applications would be created in its place.

Sorry...

The new p2p programs cannot even compete with the old-Napster. It combined the layout, speed, and user base of the best programs today into one. How soon we forget...

Then again Napster did not have the ability to download files of any sort.

funny how napster is now dubbed the "grandfather" of p2p when the program itself is about 6 years old.

ive never used napster, didnt know about kazaa until a friend told me. gr8 program i thought. i originally thought that kazaa was like a website (in a program form) which you searched and it connected to a webserver and you downloaded the music. and when "more souces needed" came up, that the music was stored on a bad part of the server. but then i learned

We will all move to another p2p program that keeps the users anonymous, unless kazaa does the same.
