Anyone ever used a word or thought a word meant something but didnt?
I.e

I'm walking on my todd/billy today.

I thought it meant im walking with todd/billy, but i know better nowadays since i asked loudly in a science class "whose billy?".

From the slang dictionnary, Jack Jones = alone, so "on my Jack Jones" should mean something like "on my own"

Still searching the "Billy" stuff

I used to think entomology was the study of the roots of words.

How embarrassing is that.

You can imagine how I felt when I discovered it was etymology.

asking :P

Another example for me would be the word Asylum Seekers.

I thought for a while that asylum seekers were people looking for a nuthouse. Arent asylum, a nuthouse???

I think it doesn't really mwans a thing. ;)
Googled for a while, playing around with different versions of the above, but not one single hit.
How common can it be then?

its very common offline, just not online.

Unless someone says "Hey, speak to you later, gonna go play with todd." in which case, is a bad thing to say. :P

I think 'clu mhor' translated from Irish is 'Great Fame' or something similar.

I once told a guy that called wanting information about where he could get his well water tested and what kind of tests he could get done that he could get it tested for orgasms. I meant organisms.

Well, he did have a very nice VOICE over the phone, Titey. After I said that there was a long pause, and then he went on like nothing happened and so did I. My co-worker was laughing hysterically in the background!!! :D

At least until I come in an' muck things up...
What about "wankers?"
I searched for it, and found that it means a whole lot more than jerkin' the gerkin'.
Why wankers?
Was there a cronic masturbator named wankers?
It also means goin' crazy, so a cronic crazed masturbator?
