Why Torrents

what made you guys choose torrents over direct downloading such as rapidshare?
i chose torrents because i they have a far wider variety of content and because you can get far better speeds with a lot of seeders, plus there are specialized sites

regarding off there is no wait times in torrents , the community is much better than any other downloading methods ;]

Well, in my case i've choose torrents because i can keep my files organized, with RS or another HTTP site, i have to download all the files to my desktop, or even in another folder it will become a great mess.

Also with the BitTorrent system i can easily resume my downloads, which i can't if i download from RS with my browser, because if the connection broke there's no way to resume it again...

thats exactly the reason why torrents system its better that direct downloads and the specialized sites gives you more content.

I download from RS on a daily basis. A big chuck of what I dl are from RS. I don't have to seed back; a big plus if you have poor upload speed.

Rapidshare and Megaupload never worked in my country, so Im forced to use torrents.
Plus, even if I could use Rapidshare, I cant imagine downloading huge HD movies and games, split into like 80 pieces, and if one of them go offline, were doomed :P

I didn't choose torrents. I chose usenet and rapidshare next, then torrents. I use torrents for things I can't find anywhere else. Usually good for fulls seasons of TV episodes.

I just came across cheggit open signups while looking for free pr0n and thought it was pretty cool. I never really thought of trying any other method, since I like the protocol is designed.

well it depends really, if you've got a rapidshare acct there's way more stuff available on rapidshare than any torrent site for obvious reasons since thousands of people upload to that, but for scene releases which you need immediately, good packs then torrents are better. Rapidshare is also essentially a free leech all the time, neither is better just depends on the files you need, older tv shows I'll go rapidshare if I can find links for them since you can dl gigs and gigs worth and not have to worry about seeding back to a minimum of 1.

Bittorrent is the shit! Why not really?
You can download a whole chunk of data so much faster. It's fast, easy and free. If only some ISP would stop to throttle with bittorrent activity.
Rapid share is nice but not as good.
