Erm hey, i just posted this 2 days back but no once has replied and my post has gone far far back. I just wanted to know if 256mb ram would be able to support Windows 2003 with uTorrent WebUI. Im planning on getting the VPS Raptor 2 from http://hosting-ie.com/content/view/27/64/ . Anyone here using raptor 2 ? please give some info on the speed and stuffs.

Thanks.

I'd like to know about this too, so I hope someone answers. If it's enough, I might also order that one.

It will run, but you will wish you had chosen a nix box instead, which will run 3 times better.

You will forever be complaining about memory, low speeds, slowness, lack of response, constant rebooting and lack of support from their support staff.

It will need constant management by you to keep it tip top, which kid of negates the point of getting a box, you should be getting one to make life easier not more difficult and stressful.

Get a nix distro and follow naq's excellent guide in the tutorials section, you won't regret it.

Thank you for the response. I'm very new to the whole server thing. I think this one was pretty cheap. Including the setup fee, I think it came out to around $45 US. I could be mistaken though. So I'd like to stick in that range or cheaper.

If you are not familiar with any distro, go for Fedora 6 and the guide will work 100%.

And yes, webui is supported with it as well.

I think 256 its ok if you use Linux, but you will need more RAM if you use Windows :S

Technically 256MB will work for Windows 2003. But it will be a slow death in hell. If you are planning to use Windows, you'll definitely need more RAM.

i would say if your planning on getting 256mb ram, use linux because windows will eat that shit up :]

Why waste what little memory you have on running first x-windows and then wine on top just for the uT web ui?

lighttpd plus torrentflux will have no problems running on 256MB.
Failing that, you can run Azureus in console and I should imagine you can turn on its web ui plugin easily.

Running uT kind of defeats the purpose of getting a nix box in the first place.

512 is minimum in my opinion even for a linux box, 1GB is optimal.
