Six months ago my fridge freezer died after 10 years faithful service. It expired suddenly and did so obviously, so I was able to transfer my frozen delights to a friend's freezer while I obtained a replacement. I replaced my old Zanussi with a fancy frost free Hotpoint and thought Hey Ho another 10 years before I cross this bridge again. Now six months later the sneaky bastard has died whilst maintaining the pretence of working. I opened my freezer to find softened mush. That was last weekend - I phoned Hotpoint who said they would rush somebody out in a week or so. They suggested I keep my unfrozen items as I might want to claim. I had a look in the freezer tonight and found I was fermenting some kind of garden pea/oven chip/sweetcorn alcoholic brew. I photographed same and then binned it all

A bit of a bugger all in all

Eating them before the repair man arrives

I feel a bit queasy to be honest.

I understand your pain.

I broke ours being thick and bought one from here http://www.clearance-comet.co.uk which looked amazing and was a really good bargain. When it arrived it was so loud it sounded like a jet plane taking off, and so big it took up half my little kitchen. Eventually we sent it back and had to get two little separates. The whole debarcle took fecking months. It suxored.

Do try that website though. Just do more research on the things you are bidding on than I did.

That site is quite good. But be warned. HD Ready means not really HD at all. ;)

Why does he need an HD freezer"?

Something Else

As it is only six months old there will be another head broccoli in the freezer if it is not fixed or replaced

Has anyone else accidentally chiselled a hole in their freezer while trying to defrost it in a hurry? That's how I lost my last one :(.

It makes me laugh sometimes seeing fridges and freezers that made by hotpoint

Errrm, yes. Carry on then.

Actually, my hotpoint freezer is a load of shit also, it still works OK after 5 years, but it needs defrosting every month. :emo:

Alien5

Barbarossa
04-23-2008, 08:40 AM

Yes. That's exactly how I broke the last one. That hiss as all the gas escapes is a truly horrible noise.

Nah, I never use a chisel, I just go at it with a hammer :sly:

Alien5

I believe cook has one of those freezer chaps, keeps it beside the walk in larder I'm given to understand. That's in the West Wing obviously.

Took day off work to wait for the repairman - he has still not arrived :frusty:

Waiting in for people to deliver or fix something is one of my pet hates.

I agree. However, a day off is always nice.

I want to set up business as a professional "waiter". Waiting for repairmen to turn up, waiting in line at the post-office or phoning all those people no one wants to call because they'd be on hold for a million years. I think it'd go down a treat.

You could take a course in speed-waiting. To save time, like.

Epic Win - although a bitch of a job

The device is now fixed. It was the electronic circuit board thing (isn't it always  )

Yes. That's exactly how I broke the last one. That hiss as all the gas escapes is a truly horrible noise.

And you just sit there, disbelief etched all over your noxious fume-covered face, thinking 'I really should get up and open the window, but I'm so stupid I don't think I can move'.

:(

CrabGirl

Yeh even stupider, after I took a faceful of CFCs I thought I'd plug up the hole with super-glue. After all it was only a leetle hole and not all the gas would have escaped yet would it? I firstly stuck myself to the fridge, then I stuck myself to the super-glue, and then I stuck myself to my mobile phone.

Gahhhh.

Explosives are safer than using chisels (in moderation obviousment)
