none so far, and never any of my "pirate" friends did.

it's not hard to take the minimum protection measures when downloading...

I unfortunately live in the USA, and I've got a few DMCA takedown notifications. One of them was for a ed2k file that I never even downloaded a single byte. I was trying to download it using eMule, and the queue was very long, so I quit and got it instead from an FTP or HTTP site. But they were able to get my ip since I was connected to the swarm.

These email threats are just a scare tactic. The emails are just sent out by the millions from IPs harvested by bots, sometimes based on nothing more than a keyword search. It's basically little different from spam.

I sent an email back to the ISP to forward on - I disputed everything - and never got a reply back. I don't think they even keep track of who they send all those threatening emails to.

hi
"Using encryption with ur client n enabling ipfilter" would be that mate

i NEVER had any problem so far.. i think my isp may know it coz of huge downloads.[may be over TB so far] via my home connection now with my box n ftp to home ..even more..i have unlimited bandwidth from my isp..so they can understand without any doubt..i may be a torrent freak..i wonder using ftp ,ur isp can view it or not? or only torrents n direct downloads

Been torrenting for over 5 yrs. & never had a problem. Then again, I don't jump on the 0day stuff as soon as it's posted either. I'm pretty patient & don't mind waiting a while. The "aa's" watch that stuff closer than the rest

Our campus receives ~15 illegal filesharing notices per month (from RIAA of course). But last week, it was ~50.

I haven't seen 'em get sued but they say it can happen.

You can also end up being SUED! The RIAA has been especially proactive in
tracking down illegal file sharers and offering to settle out of court and/or
filing lawsuits against the responsible individuals.

In most case they just terminate connection for a week or a month...which i have seen happen.

When **** receives one of these notices, it results in the immediate loss of network connectivity for the person and/or computer responsible. Depending on circumstances, your network access may be terminated for weeks (or months if a case must be filed with Student Judicial Affairs)!

Never but have heard of a few cases where people have gotten letters forwarded by their ISP. I have no idea why they bother where I live, since downloading isn't even a civil matter here. Would be thrown out of court in 5 minutes.. if it even made it to court ,that is.

Ive been torrenting for the last 5 years and have never had any letters or warnings, not even from my ips. Although, my girlfriend did have a fight with one of her girlfriends about 8 months ago, and she told my GF that she was going to turn me in to the authorities:angry: I dont think she did, cos nothing has happened yet.

Got one from Comcast a while ago -when I was using public torrents - but haven't gotten one since I quit using the TPB :D

I don't know who could be stupid enough to torrent on campus, I keep everything either offshore or encrypted these days.

I friend of mine have two friends who git arrested for using programs like Bifrost and PoisonIvy, and when the authorities confiscated their computers they foun out that they were making illegal cracking and copying of games, so both of them were put in jail for 6 months. Both were 18 so it must be horrible for them.
