u probably closed RPC Procedure Called or in Task Manager

check services and search for Remote Procedure Call
and right mouse on it and Start Up Settings (Automaticly)

Sometimes searching on google does wonders. I searched and got a techsupport forum. Go Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/showthread.php?threadid=6569&forumid=10)

The solution is there!

Been doing any searching on biomolecular topics lately? Suggest you run adaware and spybot anyway and remove a bunch of shit from your startup.

http://www.google.ca/search?q=MSBLAST&ie=I...le+Search&meta= (http://www.google.ca/search?q=MSBLAST&ie=ISO-8859-1&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search&meta=)

lol Dapadipz, the link inside indeed didnt work. But you can search for the patch elsewhere, I would suggest Google. And get Adaware as balamm suggested. I dont have MSBLAST in my system folder in XP. So you have few things in your hand to do now.
Goodluck!
Cheers!

Go here (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp) and do a virus scan. The same thing has been happening to me but I think it has something to do with a worm I picked up. It drops itself into system 32.

What is the extension of that file? Is it msblast.sof ? You probably picked it up at some Molecular Biology website. I dont think its any harmful if you delete it from there.

Dapadipz

its exe

I.am
08-11-2003, 08:10 PM
hmm.
I don't see any harm deleting it if you want. If Adaware and Spybot didnt pick anything up and even antivirus ? I suppose then its not that harmful. But in any case there is no need for a suspicious file in the system folder.

i think this is the problem

W32.Blaster.Worm is a worm that will exploit the DCOM RPC vulnerability using TCP port 135. It will attempt to download and run a file, msblast.exe.

AznRocky

i have no idea but after the patch it works it stops that thingy and it works fine for me!

chalice
08-11-2003, 11:35 PM
Yep, metro. It's located in a lot of software files these days.
System 32 is the vunerable one.
If you use the link I used earlier (which was originally supplied by Paul) for a virus scan, it can do the work for you.
Kazaa is full of worms these days. I'm scared.

OK I'm using Win2000 with no probs :). I installed the patch on 2 of my friends computers, worked like a charm. But on one of my friends computers, while trying to install the patch he gets the following error:

Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on this computer.

He tried re-downloading it, and checked the Cryptographic service, its running. He is using WinXP home, any ideas???
