I don't know how anyone can say PS2 is better then Xbox...It's not physically possible! Xbox is better then PS2 in every single way!

Ask Rockstar. ;) They both are, and there is going to be a thing about in the next issue of Xbox Magizine. And once more, ask Rockstar. They will both be out by about October or Novemeber because the deal with ps2 is going to be over sooner than what was once thought. Rockstar doesnt have anything about it on there site though, at least im pretty sure they don&#39;t. I heard its because they are waiting until OXM annouces it also, because i heard they might have an xbox deal where xbox gets the next GTA game and no one else gets it. :)

really NONE of them are shit, i have every console (the current ones that is) and all of them are good at one point... right now my xbox is the best... 2 months ago my ps2 was the best... and my gamecube has always been in the middle <_< pretty much the point of that is that most people that say they are total crap either 1) havent had them (rented our bought) 2) are fanboys 3) dont try most games

As many insiders know, the Grand Theft Auto series is supposed to be PlayStation 2 console exclusive, however sources reveal that Rockstar is circumventing the agreement by stripping the Xbox version of the title Grand Theft Auto, and simply repackaging the game as Vice City.

Back in May, Take Two&#39;s CEO Jeffrey Lapin spoke about a major Rockstar title in development for the Xbox during the company&#39;s quarterly conference call with analysts. "We said that there will be an Xbox SKU from Rockstar in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2004 [Nov. to Jan.]," Lapin said, "but we&#39;re not going to comment on what it is at this point." It now looks like Vice City is that game.

Vice City&#39;s gameplay will be identical to the PC version that recently shipped, and might also include additional features like custom soundtracks and downloadable content.

May 29, 2003 - In Take-Two Interactive&#39;s conference call with analysts early this week the company said that its exclusivity contract with Sony Computer Entertainment America has been amended and, additionally, executives strongly hinted that a version of Grand Theft Auto may come to Xbox.
During the Q&A section of the conference call, Take-Two&#39;s Jeffrey Lapin stated that an unannounced SKU would appear on Xbox in the fourth quarter of the company&#39;s fiscal year (which, for Rockstar, is November to January). Lapin didn&#39;t confirm it was Grand Theft Auto, but he implied, according to a source who listened in on the call, that it was a Grand Theft Auto title. If rumor proves true, then a previously published version of the game, i.e. Grand Theft Auto III or Grand Theft Auto Vice City, is in the works for Xbox.

According to the conference transcript, the relevant question asked in the call was: "Is GTA for Xbox coming, and when it is coming?" Lapin&#39;s answer was: "We said that there will be an Xbox SKU from Rockstar in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2004 [Nov. to Jan.], but we&#39;re not going to comment on what it is at this point."

It is assumed by analysts that the Xbox title Lapin refers to isn&#39;t a version of Mafia or Max Payne 2, two potential games that have already been announced or hinted at.

SCEA&#39;s contract with Rockstar originally stated that all Grand Theft Auto titles would be exclusive to PlayStation 2 (with the exception of the PC) from 2001 to year&#39;s end 2004. Apparently, SCEA and Rockstar have re-negotiated the contract to permit the game to appear on other consoles. Rockstar is currently working on the next Grand Theft Auto title, due for year&#39;s end in 2004, which will, as we understand it, complete the original exclusivity contract with SCEA. (Unless that too has been renegotiated.)

A second question was asked: "Will the Sony deal allow you to ship a non-PS2 GTA product even if it&#39;s not the most current?" The answer was: "We&#39;re not going to comment on terms of the at deal although by the next conference call we&#39;ll be able to give some more color."

Take-Two is most likely to announce the full, confirmed news in its next analyst call this August. And you know we&#39;ll have more on that when it comes.

Which leads us to believe -- speculatively, of course -- that both of those games will appear on the next generation of systems (i.e. PS3, GameCube 2, Xbox 2 and the Phantom 2, etc.).

Although we spoke with Rockstar Games officials today, the company&#39;s policy is to not comment on rumors. A source close to Rockstar Games said that the information in the article is definitely not concrete, but is possible.

"We don&#39;t really announce the Rockstar games until very close to release because we don&#39;t want anybody copying us," Lapin said in the story.

As many insiders know, the Grand Theft Auto series is supposed to be PlayStation 2 console exclusive, however sources reveal that Rockstar is circumventing the agreement by stripping the Xbox version of the title Grand Theft Auto, and simply repackaging the game as Vice City.

Back in May, Take Two&#39;s CEO Jeffrey Lapin spoke about a major Rockstar title in development for the Xbox during the company&#39;s quarterly conference call with analysts. "We said that there will be an Xbox SKU from Rockstar in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2004 [Nov. to Jan.]," Lapin said, "but we&#39;re not going to comment on what it is at this point." It now looks like Vice City is that game.

Vice City&#39;s gameplay will be identical to the PC version that recently shipped, and might also include additional features like custom soundtracks and downloadable content.

According to the conference transcript, the relevant question asked in the call was: "Is GTA for Xbox coming, and when it is coming?" Lapin&#39;s answer was: "We said that there will be an Xbox SKU from Rockstar in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2004 [Nov. to Jan.], but we&#39;re not going to comment on what it is at this point."

It is assumed by analysts that the Xbox title Lapin refers to isn&#39;t a version of Mafia or Max Payne 2, two potential games that have already been announced or hinted at.

SCEA&#39;s contract with Rockstar originally stated that all Grand Theft Auto titles would be exclusive to PlayStation 2 (with the exception of the PC) from 2001 to year&#39;s end 2004. Apparently, SCEA and Rockstar have re-negotiated the contract to permit the game to appear on other consoles. Rockstar is currently working on the next Grand Theft Auto title, due for year&#39;s end in 2004, which will, as we understand it, complete the original exclusivity contract with SCEA. (Unless that too has been renegotiated.)

A second question was asked: "Will the Sony deal allow you to ship a non-PS2 GTA product even if it&#39;s not the most current?" The answer was: "We&#39;re not going to comment on terms of the at deal although by the next conference call we&#39;ll be able to give some more color."

Take-Two is most likely to announce the full, confirmed news in its next analyst call this August. And you know we&#39;ll have more on that when it comes.

Although we spoke with Rockstar Games officials today, the company&#39;s policy is to not comment on rumors. A source close to Rockstar Games said that the information in the article is definitely not concrete, but is possible.

"We don&#39;t really announce the Rockstar games until very close to release because we don&#39;t want anybody copying us," Lapin said in the story.

Of equal interest is that the Rockstar&#39;s potential move to put GTA III and GTA: Vice City on Nintendo&#39;s GameCube and Microsoft&#39;s Xbox. Another point that I don&#39;t see when people compare the two (x-box and ps2) too a gaming pc is you can get a x-box or ps2 for &#036;180- &#036;300 (depending on country and deals) and a decent gaming computer that won&#39;t glich,studder,or crash would be around &#036;1000 (now give or take on that too). First of all, i said the highest "RATED" game, i never stated anywhere that the game was the best out of them all (even though i would prefer the high polygon link :D). And second, my post wasn&#39;t just about that.

after reading the last posts... i decided to weigh my xbox...(i have a 250 gb maxtor hd btw...)

it weights 11.5 pounds

and guess what... turned on is 1 pound lighter... lol

i didn't stop there... no...

i put it on my backpack (pretty standar one) and it fitted nice... carried it on my shoulder, and it didn't feel heavy at all... but then... im a big dude, so if you're a 10 years old anorexic lil boy, you should think twice about carrying it (you could break your back lol)

The Ps2 sux it has outdated hardware and the games on it cannot be further expanded for like new technologies and such. The xbox is further being exploited and and the power of the xbox is starting to show an example would be Fable which will be the best RPG ever created period. the reason you pay for Xbox online is the servers are much better than shitty PS2 ones. Xbox owners get free downloads of new levels, extra content and such. PS2 owners get frequent disconnections from there servers and shitty lag (I use to go round a mates and play THPS4 so i know. Xbox is a far more powerfull system. The only console to be able to handle such games as Doom 3, far Cry Instints and Half Life 2.....PS2 can handle GTA SA. And i thought GTA SA had some terrible graphics. I watched the opening movie and close up on thier faces you could see the jagged edges and no finger tips and everything.

But the thing about Xbox is most of its games....came from PS2....I'll give you the Halos, etc, but games like GTA,MGS,etc came from PS2, and they were originally developed for the PS2 system.

Sure graphics are a key part to any system,but there are many other aspects to it.

Some things of note:

Xbox Live has way better servers than PS2's individually developed game servers. It's worth the money.
XBConnect mimics the system link for the internet...another plus.

Portability is not an issue with either console but for "space" concerns it's a different matter. I like the new PS2 if I have limited space in my luggage or for the truck. Otherwise they both fit in my backpack just fine.

The XBox is bigger because of the hard drive. Period. I rather have it than to a be able to say it's er uh...smaller than the PS2.

If some of the Xbox games are the same as the PS2...guess which console has the best version in almost every case.

PS2 is good for the games that I can't get on the Xbox. I love Ratchet and Clank.

Why dont you guys just let it go and get over the fact that not everyone in this forum is going to think the same as you. Personally i prefer xbox over ps2 because of how simple it is to softmod it and you can load music, movies, emulators etc onto it. I get PS2 and GC games that are not available on Xbox. Since it is the more powerful system, why wouldn't I play the good games on it?

Playing games on a clearly inferior system when they are readily available on a superior system is plain stupid.
