If you were in the BT section posting like this

..
..
..
..
..
would get you an infraction :) Wonder why that rule is only there?

You should try Usenet, it really is better. All the benefits but with faster speeds and no ratio to worry about.

usenet ?

I like the idea of bt; I am sharing with my peers. Usenet is leeching

The old guy that recommended newsgroups, silly.

Leeching is not a dirty word in the world of Usenet. I prefer n00bs to leech for awhile, learn the ropes and get acclimated.

It's not really, in fact it's totally free of it whereas BT is full of it, look at Mulder ffs.

People upload stuff expecting nothing in return, maybe the odd word of thanks. They fulfil requests on a regular basis. People then download stuff from the server, without having to worry about a ratio. It's an entirely different model to BT which is full of "invite traders" and leeches.

If nothing is expected in return for downloading then people can't really be "leeching" per se.

what is 'mulder'?

also I'm def. a noob, and I don't know anyone who uploads to newsgroups. Being a noob, and using bit torrent, I can help my fellow peers by seeding after i've downloaded something. One of the trackers I use doesn't even have a ratio system, so its not a big deal; and the others make it easy to keep a 1:1 ratio (perks for seeding, etc.). Something about saturating my upload link just makes me feel all warm inside.

also, non-isp access to newsgroups costs money, whereas bt is free (I don't know anyone who uses their ISP usenet access)

Yeah there is this whole 'invite-trading' bs you speak of, but i dont take part in it. I got invited to some great places by just asking.

Lastly I think the bit torrent protocol is cooler than the antiquated NNTP stuff.

To each their own.

However I get max download speed pretty much every time I download from Usenet. I also find the stuff I am interested in sooner. I use Usenet as supplied by my ISP so there's no added charge.

I use BT as well and I don't think it's a patch on it but if you prefer BT that's good as well. Different people like different things.

Not at all.
You're gonna need all the bandwith you can get to support that bt addiction.
If you converted to usenet on the other hand.... :whistling
