I knew you were flexible as fuck, like.

Multi-faceted kinda gal.

What happened to Olga Corbitt? What happened to those girls?
With their triple-flips and axles, somersaults and twirls?

Like.

No of course not.

My 30 year old friend hosts a beat box night once a month down here and it's always good.

Yes but only because you asked the question.

Otherwise no, no you aren't.

Enjoy life, enjoy beatbox.

I saw one of the entrants accompany a choir at the Festival Hall and thought it seemed a pleasant way to spend an evening :snooty:.

Middle class/hip-hop crossover

Nah, you'll be fine. It's mostly lil white boys nowadays anyhoo. Where's it held?

My mate has a bake-off at his events because he thought it was the most un-hip thing he could think of. Two challengers bring home made baked goods, people taste and vote. The winner so far was chocolate orange brownies I think.

Mmmmm...chocolate and orange.....

It's at the Islington Carling Academy. Ok, ticket bought - Fug's right. Although I'm not supposed to care what he thinks . I haven't been on a decent night out in ages, all my mates now are into classical music, gay nights and 70s disco cheese. I lost touch with all the people I used to go out with to actually enjoy myself.

Yeah that's what I was afraid of! I went to a choral concert the other week, and they were doing a programme of pop songs. They had MC Zani participate and some other guy doing vocal percussion in the corner. He did a little prelude to Cry Me a River, and when they were finished people in the audience just looked at each other in awe...the whole ensemble was amazing. So some of us decided to see what it's all about. I'll just go and keep my head down and try not to draw attention to myself :yup:.

You can always go there and pretend you did it with irony, like.

That way you can sneer, and laugh at the plebs in a condescending fashion whilst secretly enjoying yourself.

CrabGirl
05-20-2008, 08:16 AM
Have fun! Wish I was going. :(

It's only you who thinks that you'll stand out. You probably won't at all. In my experience age groups at events like this are always mixed, because you've got people our age and older who remember stuff from before the children revived it and Lo! It Was Considered Cool. If said Children have an issue with the age of the attendees then that's their problem and not in the spirit of the event.

Not all rap glamorises gun crime and misogeny. There is a lot of important social comment takes place too you know.

Are you saying that the word of the Christian Church is not misogynistic?

I'm not serious, being a middle class white guy from North London, I grew up in the ghetto, Snoop and Ice Cube pretty much raised me through the medium of hip hop.

Example of Christian rap.

Fu*k the police and Ren said it with authority
because the niggaz on the street is a majority
A gang, is with whoever I'm steppin
and the motherfu*kin weapon is kept in
a stash box, for the so-called law
Wishin Ren was a nigga that they never saw
Lights start flashin behind me
But they're scared of a nigga so they mace me to blind me
But that shit don't work, I just laugh
because it gives em a hint, not to step in my path
For police, I'm sayin, "Fu*k you punk!"
Readin my rights and shit, it's all junk
Pullin out a silly club, so you stand
with a fake-assed badge and a gun in your hand
But take off the gun so you can see what's up
And we'll go at it punk, and I'ma fu*k you up!
Make you think I'ma kick your ass
but drop your gat, and Ren's gonna blast
I'm sneaky as fu*k when it comes to crime
But I'ma smoke 'em now and not next time
Smoke any motherfu*ker that sweats me
or any asshole, that threatens me
I'm a sniper with a hell of a scope
Takin out a cop or two, they can't cope with me
The motherfu*kin villian that's mad
With potential, to get bad as fu*k
So I'ma turn it around
Put in my clip, yo, and this is the sound
{*BOOM, BOOM*} Yeah, somethin like that
but it all depends on the size of the gat
Takin out a police, would make my day
But a nigga like Ren don't give a fu*k to say

Jesus

Not quite as north as Barnet. Think cafes, restaurants, (but no decent bars for some reason) lots of suburban mothers trimming hedges. People always seem to have an auntie who lives there...

05-20-2008, 01:13 PM
