This is server based, and for what it does, I have not found anything better that comes free...

www.teamviewer.com

Allows for remote file transfer, and because it is server based, meaning both the client and the host have app running that connects to server online, it auto bypasses any firewalls. This has been great for helping relatives, etc, far away, without having to hassle over port forwarding etc.

Enjoy!!

Is this anything like http://www.logmein.com

They have a free version that connects over SSL socket and does not require port forwarding either. The only draw back is you have to pay to get file transfer feature enabled. Or just setup a quick free ftp server :)

This is excellent software for those who cannot install on a company owned machine. There is no need to install anything on either system (though it's an option if you wish to install) and it's so simple that your own mother could use it. The best features would have to be the fact that it is free and the option to do file transfers. I’ve been using it all day at work now and it’s as slick as :shit:.

I’ll still use VNC for working within my home networking setup but this TeamViewer takes the cake when dealing with long distance remote access.

Thanks for the information OP!

I had been using TightVNC for a good while but I recently tried TeamViewer for the first time and I love it. It's MUCH better than Logmein.
