also on the norton systemworks, under norton antivirus on the virus defenitions thing, it says that the subscription service isnt installed. is that important?

Are you an admin on your comp? I had that problem too, since i live with my dad. I'm 16. But, the LiveUpdate worked after he accedentaly left his admin desktop on one day....hehe http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/r/dance.gif

yeah i know, i installed it already. im just saying that i have to get that file every so often since my liveupdate wont download the defenitions. or does that make it so my liveupdate can get the defenitions again?

yeah i am the admin on my computer. but every so often i get a error type pop up from norton saying something about having to be an admin, and right when i hit ok, it comes out again. once i click ok again it doesnt come back. everytime i get that weird error type pop up, it comes out twice

thanks paul, gotta keep those virus defenitions up to date with all the stuff u can catch now. i just got another one of those error type pop ups. it says: Cannot read subscription data. You may need administrator priviliges. humm maybe thats y my Systemworks says that Subscription Service isnt installed. anyone know about this, if its important and how do i fix it?

Try to uninstall Norton AV.

Then remove all left-over pieces:
- look in the 'application data' folders for left over files
- look in the 'common files' folder fo rleft over files
- liveupdate
- norton livereg

Then install it again. That usually fixes weird problems.

Also the Symantec website has a big knowledge base in which you can look for a solution.

uninstalling and reinstalling back did it Yes works sometimes but uninstalling and reinstalling programs can hurt your system,so attention don't exagerate.
