I am a victim of discrimination so please hear my plea
I am equal to my neighbors yet they still shun me
It's the color of my skin, of that I am sure
Why else am I here then...just to even the score ?
I feel like such a square not joining in their game
I look to my brethren but their plight is still the same

What am I ?

The following are well-known song titles re-worded into literal terms. What are the songs ?

1. The nighttime guide adorned with small, often circular pieces of sparkling metal or plastic used for decoration of a standard.

2. Transport my personage to the exterior, to the amusement involving a small, round, hard projectile.

3. Ancient nonspatial continuum in which events occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future, relatively hard, naturally formed mineral or petrified matter and caused to move forward along a surface by revolving on an axis or by repeatedly turning over.

4. A solid, usually cylindrical mass of tallow in the midst of moving air.

This is one of those " Ask me yes-or-no type questions til someone gets it " riddles.

A man stands on the edge of a ledge outside the window of his office.....62 floors up. He is certain that he has nothing to live for and has decided rather than live the rest of his life like this, he will jump to his death. Just as he steps off, the phone rings and too late he realizes that he has made a horrible mistake. His final thoughts are of profound regret for making this decision.

Why did the man want to commit suicide and why did he want to change his mind when he heard the phone ring ?

No. You'll have to suspend your disbelief on this one. The situation is highly unlikely but it is definitely solveable. Think more in terms of a certain Charlton Heston film. ( no googling ! )

There are no historical clues, it could just as easily have said that King Eros died in 1940, except that would not have made much sense.

Illuminati
08-14-2003, 04:23 PM
Lynx is correct - This is all we need. However, you need to do more than read it - You need to analyse it.

Eros was born - 120 years after, Tut died. They had a combined age of 100. Considering the 100 combined year compared to the 120 years, they could have not be alive at the same time - They lived in seperate time spaces.

The 100 years can be done in any way, but it still leaves 20 years before the death of King Eros and the birth of King Tut. Eros died in 40 BC, so Tut was born in 20 BC.

Easy when you know how ;)

lynx
08-14-2003, 04:31 PM
Easy really, all you had to do was pick an age for eros, subtract that from his date of death, add 120 years, then subtract (100-Eros's age) and you get 20BC, no matter what age you pick for Eros.

What has ten holes. When one is open the other nine are closed. When one is closed the other nine are open?
The human body has 9 orifices....

Eyes - 2
Ears - 2
Nose - 2
Mouth - 1
Anus - 1
Genitals - 1

Maybe they're all open if there isn't a dirty great hole open in your chest, and they're closed if there is?

Holes opened then "closed"/filled by the nails.

As each one went in, the ninth (the mouth) opened in pain.

There's a few things wrong with that, but that's my best answer ;)

Ok, when I first looked at it, I thought "Allegiance", "Loyalty".... but I'd never heard of "Fealty" before.

So I looked up the word in the dictionary and it is somewhat synonymous to the other to words.

So now we have three words which all mean more or less "Loyalty" split by the / symbol... so I'm gonna guess Divided Loyalties

That's just plain nasty, I thought there must be something special about it being a 1976 AMC Pacer.
If you were locked inside my car you wouldn't get out with just a 4"" pocket knife. There are all sorts of little failsafes to prevent you from locking yourself in the car without the keys, but it is possible (with determination) to get round them or for someone else to lock you in.

Here's one I haven't heard before:

During WWII, there was a bridge connecting Germany and Switzerland, and on the German side, there was a sentry tower with a guard in it. He would come out every three minutes to check on the bridge, and he had orders to turn back anyone who tried to get into Germany, and shoot anyone trying to escape without a pass. There was a woman who desperately needed to get into Switzerland, and she knew she didn't have time to get a pass. It would take her five minutes to cross the bridge, but she managed to do it. How?

Lamsey
08-17-2003, 11:19 AM
She should walk on to the bridge just after he has checked, and start crossing.

After two minutes, she must turn back and start walking towards Germany again.
The German guard will come out before she reaches Germany and turn her back, allowing her to enter Switzerland safely.

lynx
08-17-2003, 11:20 AM
@ Lamsey: That is exactly why that trick doesn't work on cars that are difficult to steal.

Edit: damn, you're too quick for me today.

Here's another then:

A man was found shot dead in his study. He was slumped over his desk and a gun was in his hand. There was a cassette recorder on his desk. When the police entered the room and pressed the play button on the tape recorder they heard, "I can't go on. I have nothing to live for."Then there was the sound of a gunshot. How did the detective immediately know that the man had been murdered?

Proper Bo
08-17-2003, 11:36 AM
He couldn't have pressed stop and rewind to get the tape in the right place for the police to press play?

All you have to do is crack the following code:-

CA-MM-ANO-MM-OSOAR-MM

It requires a sense of humour, Dialectal freedom and the realization that everything is not what it appears to be.

No further clues possible. Bye!

Okay - We've had some challenging ones recently, so here's a relaxing one. This isn't meant to be hard, but it does involve thinking logically.

These days, practically anything you see has "My first..." in it. e.g. "My first book", "my first toy", yada yada yada. Although just because you encounter most of the "my firsts" you experience at a young age, it doesn't mean that all of them are experienced as a kid ;)

What is the one thing that is guaranteed to be the last "first" experienced by anyone, regardless of who, what, why, where, when or how? :)

If that's the answer, bb could be right about not showing his face around here again.

Well, I didn't seem to be getting anywhere with the notion of mountains.

(http://members.roadfly.com/tite-wad/MM.gif is "MM" in webding font - btw)

So I figured I'd try this. :P

No correct answer as yet. Try the 'cryptic' TITEY, I know you love them! :) Two correct moves from the cryptic clue and you have the answer.

I thought http://members.roadfly.com/tite-wad/M.gif was in response to the cryptic clues.

You said "Tennis Shoes" - they have arches - golden arches - get it?

Then you said "suspense" - arches support - oh... erm.... nevermind. http://www.piczonline.com/client/titey/duh.gif

Is there any way to "bridge" the gap we seem to be having in communication? http://www.piczonline.com/client/titey/LOL.gif

What could I possibly see out of my window?
Not a permanent fixture by the way.
Just in passing and to add a wee bit of waffle(McDonalds again). There is a country park(With castle) about fifty feet from my house. Trouble is the tall trees prevent me seing a view of GOAT FELL on he island of Arran with the MULL of KINTYRE behind that and the Firth of Clyde in the foreground. A very picter skew view. Anyway the window I was looking out of was on the other side of the house.

(Not your boobies bb - and no Ridds, not yer bitch titties either. <_< )

Well you had all the answer except the MM and the answer to that was:-

http://www.stinalisa.com/hoverdove.gif

Change the font on MM and certain fonts look like birds.
Cryptic:- Suspense-Hitchcock-Birds.
I could see seagulls out of my window as I was typing.

As I said I will make that my last one. BYe
