There's cool alien thingy in my belly waving at me! Woooooo :w00t:

Did Doc say everything was fine?, i presume so since you are so happy.
Weird how those absolutely absurd images which give a glimpse inside provoke so much.
I wave back to the little dude/ss

Did you have one of those 3-D ultrasound thingys? Those are cool. I take it that
everything was OK?

Peace, Paul

Awesome Skweeky I think that is one of the coolest things during pregnancy. I have seen every one of my 3 kids sonograms I would even take off from work to go with. I suggest every one with an opportunity go see it if you can. OH and we did the 3D one once but for me it steps over the line from amazing to a bit creepy

Good for you, I'm glad things are going well.

Enjoy this time, he'll be picking up his season ticket for mordor before you can say quadruple.

When do you get scans then?

Here we get them at 12 weeks and 20 weeks, all things being well.

Everything was just fine.

They've recently changed things a wee bit here, you only get one scan around 16 weeks and that's it.

Mr Skweeky and I were considering a 3D scan to find out the sex, but we've changed our minds and are just going to wait and see.

@JP: My moses basket is green and white :D

I'm guessing they don't cost a lot at first Skweeks? If you breastfeed I guess all you have to buy is a basket/cot and maybe a sling, and some clothes? Or am I being naive .

 :earl:

You have no idea...

moses basket or crib at first, unless you want to sleep with them in your bed (not advised when we were having ours, but that may have changed now); cot or cotbed later.

car seat
"Travel system" (or "pram" in old money)
small plastic bath thing
towels
baby-gros
vests
change mat
nappies
nappies
NAPPIES!

...and those are just the essentials...

@Skweeks - What's a 3-D ultrasound? Don't think I've heard of those before. Didn't you just get done that procedure where they put that jelly-like stuff on your tummy, and go over it with some uber-l33t shaving-like machine, only that it isn't meant for shaving??

Outta here!

I don't have a car so wouldn't need a car seat, don't need a pram because you can just buy a sling, would use towelling nappies not disposables, wash the baby in the sink so no bath, you can use your own towels, changing mat? What's wrong with the kitchen floor? Clothes I will accept :snooty:.

I reckon I can run a baby much cheaper than yous.

Barbarossa
06-04-2008, 10:22 AM
Studies have been done that say the cost of repeatedly having to wash towelling nappies can be more than the cost of buying disposable ones.

It depends how often you need to change the nappy I guess. On average it's supposed to be about 6 times a day, but I've got to be honest, sometimes we only did it half that much...

Also remember to factor in the cost of needing a chiropractor if you're going to be carrying it round in a sling/ bending down on the floor to change nappies, etc.

Don't have a car? What is this, the dark ages

Squeamous
06-04-2008, 10:32 AM

I doubt a bit of bending down and baby carrying is going to hurt anyone. There are women in developing countries who work all day in paddy fields with babies strapped to their backs without complaint. We're too soft, that's the trouble.

I can drive, but never felt the need to buy a car. I think most people buy them and then find a use for them.

But you're too soft like you said. So you'd break. :eyebrows:

Those developing county wymyns would kick your arse.

Nice one skweeks on the scan. What flavour is it. :smilie4:

Perhaps you're right. I'll just cluck a bit over Skweeky's, safe in the knowledge that I can go home to a vomit and shit-free house. Except at the weekends obviously :snooty:.

Someone I know didn't want to be cut so it all teared instead and they couldn't stitch it properly because of it :fear:

This thread takes me back to an early conversation we had; you were never going to have wee'uns, as I remember.

That was '04ish, I think.

Sometimes 4 years isn't so long, eh? :)

Good news all around, Skweeks. ;)
