The Norton range is created by Symantec

i.e. there's no real difference between Symantec and Norton

Why is it free? Isn't this software expensive? How can you post it on the site?

It is version 7.6

Latest version of Symantec AV is 8.1

Not that it matters much. It does it's job too.

Does this mean that the update service will stop in no time?
Does it need a serial?
Sory for these questions cause free is free, but I've got no experience with a corporate edition.

HEY IM THE ONE WHO FOUND THAT SITE!!! HOW COME IM NOT GETTING ANY CREDIT

@nostalgia - The update service (LiveUpdate) works and says nothing about an expiration, And no need for a serial.

-Its free because its hosted off of a colleges website, they wanted every student to have NAV so they put it on their website for the ::Cough:: students to d/l.

What is the difference between this and say normal NAV2000?

I had a problem with a virus that kept on being detected by NAV2000.
NAV2000 said:
Message: LINUX
Virus: [email protected]

Problem was NAV2000 could not fix or repair the virus.
So....
I just downloaded this Corporate Version and updated its definitions.
Guess what?: It just let the virus containing message and attachment right in to my inbox.
Luckily I already knew the message contained a virus. But my point is: how good is this NAV Corporate ed. if it didn't even detect the virus.

Wouldn't downloading NAV2003 be the best option for maximum protection?
If so can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks,
P

Corporate Editions have a different version numbering scheme as the standard Norton Anti-virus.

Corp 8.1 is actually newer as NAV 2003

check the bottom right of your screen there should be a little yellow sheild, if it has a red cross (\) over it that meens Live Protection has been DISabled, if so, right click it and click - Enable Live Pretecttion - if live pretection was already running, then i dont know what the problem is (did u you run live update to get the newest virus defenitions???)
And yes, downloading the newest version is awlyas the best.

Norton corporate does not prevent infected emails from getting into outlook express's inbox. It will prevent it from getting much farther though. If your silly enough to open it, it will be quarantined.
corporate is designed to work with Outlook or lotus notes only, it is a business software after all. It will do a fine job on desktops when it's been properly configured, heuristics enabled in advanced properties for example.

I use Norton Internet Security 2003 ,I wouldn't trade it for anything,it blocks a lot of attacks on my computer and is the best virus protection out there.."as long as you run the live update ",I have mine set to run itself but, still check it every other day to much sure"better safe than sorry". ;) have a great day...Jenn

In what way exactly are the latest issues of NAV better than previous? Surely they use the same virus definitions if you keep them updated?

I just think its very weird how NAV Corporate let in a Virus containing e-mail, and my old NAV2000 blocked it before I could even read the message.

I even had all the advanced settings on maximum and had all virus definitions updated.

So what gives?

Should I even bother trying NAV2003 Professional? I see that is available on Kazaa?

Also, I have noticed there are no e-mail related configuration panels on the corporate version.
The 2000 version did have e-mail tweaks.
Am i missing something? Or are e-mail protections all automatic?

 Did you not see my post above?
Unless you use outlook (not outlook express) there is no email "protection". There is however "file protection" and real time protection that prevents anything from executing anyway. Why have both email protection and file protection if it's not needed? This is why Corporate runs faster and lighter while still working effectively.

Sorry balamm, bit new to all this so bear with me bro.....
I currently run Outlook Express.
In your view should I keep the Corporate version, or should I give the 2003 Pro version a whirl?
Is the level of protection the same?
Cheers again,
P
