Hello, It's been a while since i've used torrents on private sites [i still go in to them now and then to continue being a member] as i use newsgroups more.

I still have utorrent 1.6.1 and the last i heard was that latter versions were banned and most sites said keep 1.6.1 so i did. The latest utorrent is 1.7.7 and i'm unsure whether its banned from private sites or not. Can someone tell me whether across the private torrent sites this version is allowed please.

Answers appreciated.

why don't you read the FAQ on the sites you're on to find the answer instead of making others do the work for you.

all you need to read the faq
and by the way utorrent 1.7.7 allow in almost all trackers now
but you have to read the faq dude

whoops. i forgot about the faqs. i searched on the various forums in the admins and help bits but couldnt find answers [except for old topics]. Didn't think of the faq!

trust me. i didnt mean to make a new thread to make people do the work for me!

thanks for replies

In most cases you'll want to stick with the latest STABLE version (not beta) of a client. And like you guys said above, the FAQ or IRC channel of a tracker will usually have a list of allowed clients+versions.

Just choose latest beta. It looks great! All the sites I frequent allow it.

uTorrent 1.7.7 is almost accepted by PT.
e not). I use it now.

You can find the version detail allowed from FAQ or Rule of tracker.

Use a stable version rather than beta version.

I use the latest beta (11086) and almost (tvt is the most noticeable exception) all the trackers allow it. :)
