http://seedlayer.net/

Signed up with them about an hour ago, account set up within 5 minutes!

Prices are really good.

Great help from admin, every question asked answeres within 5 minutes!

I'm really new to seedboxes but the service seedlayer provide is excellent :D

Speeds seem really good aswell although i've not tested them to the max yet.

I would highly reccomend them!

hmm i think the max upload on a 100mbit connectioon is like at most 15mbps and i dont even think its that much and if your really gettint like 50mbps down and up your on a 1gbps pipe and that company is fucking crazy to sell that shit so cheap

Hello heres a screenshot of what I got on the latest FTN pack http://i32.tinypic.com/4kv2c4.jpg
I could get 40-50 Mbps download and upload speed on ScT packs, and on BitMeTv I get around 10-20 Mbps download and upload speed. When theres a new pack on ScT i'll post a new screenie ;)

kamon, he is not serious is he? the odds of getting 60 mb dl or ul is pretty slim...as far as i know, there is this balance of seeders and leechers... If there is noone capable of seeding with 60 mb, then u wont ever dl with 60 mb but there probably is isnt it?

Both of you, I couldn't find a ScT torrent yet, time zones are different for all of us mate.

KennyX

I thought he was saying he got 60mb as in about 6000kB.

If this is the case then it is very possible, if you are the only person on it and it is well set up box, to get 60Mb.

A quick look at the screencap shows he is the only user on the box so 60Mb might well be true. I got 4000kB'ish (or 40Mb) bursts on the torrent-core one, admittedly running sixteen torrents, and than one is a piece of crap that has been badly set up.

I know on the FTS boxes you can get speeds like this but the price and bandwidth are poor.

Before anyone points out that 4000kB is just over 32Mb, yes I know and if they use mb I always assume they are noobs and don't know the difference between Mb and MB.

tehmrserver
07-07-2008, 06:58 PM

I know the owner of this host and he is a really good guy. He is trustworthy and knows what he's doing. In fact, he configured/fixed my last seedbox a couple of times out of kindness. I think it's a good idea for someone who wants an entry level seedbox or just something to buffer their account a little bit.

p.s. I'm glad to see that idiot above me was disabled.

Ichigo81
07-16-2008, 02:52 PM
Looks like Seedlayer dropped it's total connections option last night. Can only connect to a max 25 people per torrent now which is pretty low to get decent speeds up or down. This one change can determine whether or not I stick with them for future months... hopefully it's only temporary.

And... now there's 17 people on the same box as me. Server stability was awesome when there was only 10 of us but now the site is taking a long time to navigate and server load is too high.

/sigh I guess it's time to admit there is never a cheap solution :P

Ichigo81
07-17-2008, 12:17 PM
Now we're getting constant resets because server load becomes too high. Nothing worse than waking up to stopped torrents you set for overnight... >.<

tehmrserver
07-17-2008, 03:48 PM
yeah i've been kinda pissed at that lately

but i have spoke to the administrator of SeedLayer and they told me they have installed transmission so this won't happen again. I hope resets won't happen anymore

hitman51
07-17-2008, 03:56 PM
yea i made a support ticket and they were installing new software..thats why all of the downtime happened...but now that i believe the installation is finished it should run very smooth...don't worry guys the resetting is over

Ichigo81
07-17-2008, 08:38 PM
Well it was working for a bit after we all switched to transmission but it's seems stuffed again now. Can't even access the site (or FTP) at all now lol :P

haydeno
07-17-2008, 08:41 PM

new server is laggy again servers are still decently fast(1-2MB) but defiantly oversold

tehmrserver
07-19-2008, 02:18 AM
definitely.
one of their staff said they were thinking of switching their systems to utorrent or wtorrent or something like that

haydeno
07-19-2008, 03:33 AM
i think utorrent would be much much better. In my experience using VPS i only needed ~200mb ram for utorrent but even 1 gb on torrentflux was a push

tehmrserver
07-19-2008, 04:39 AM
yeh the staff told me the problem is that some customers want torrentflux not webui
so they are working on some lighthttpd thing

haydeno
07-19-2008, 06:46 AM
whats advantage of TF vs webui?

tehmrserver
07-19-2008, 06:46 AM
i don't know you may wanna ask their staff

i think webui cant create torrent

tX
07-19-2008, 08:11 AM
whats advantage of TF vs webui?
webUI uses less resources
Their boxes are a bit laggy at the moment (not enough ram to run tflux fast)

Speeds are great though, I hit 3mb/s upload on a torrentleech torrent

But it really is quite laggy and unresponsive, and I don't seem to be connecting to very many peers

Right now getting error

tehmrserver

haydeno

i thought you could reboot via ovh cp

kross
07-20-2008, 07:37 AM
You can reboot from the manager if you rent directly from OVH.
Otherwise, like it has been discussed, no reseller gives you the access to it and then, you need to wait when you ask for a reboot.

i bought this torrentflux 3 days back and ill tell u since i bought it im still having problems sometimes it gives errors keep sending support tickets to get it fixed (support service is quick) but the speeds for me are so slow only hit upto 30kbps uploading which as my isp internet hit 70/80 kbps upload on the same file.

next time i rather stick with webui much faster and less hastle

dunson
07-20-2008, 12:47 PM
The picture above is proof that the boxes are great stuff. No you won't get that speed all the time, but the rest of you have to realize that not every torrent will max out like that. Especially the person saying he's only getting 30kbps, I bet you don't have more than one slow peer behind you...or maybe a few are there, but the other seeders are filling their pipes up.

These boxes are good stuff, and as I said above, I know the owner is not ripping people off because I know him personally. So don't let any of the noob comments above discourage you if you're looking for a good tflux box. Give it a shot. It's cheap as hell anyway.

but tflux is hitting good download speeds 3-4 mb and only like 30-40kbps upload ill show you proof

It's very hard to connect to peers with SeedLayer, let alone good ones that can handle high bandwidth (other people with seedboxes most likely in the screenshot above). He might be seeding with 6285 kB/s in that screenshot but look at the total upload... 8057 kB/s. He prolly got that speed right after a server reset and other users haven't restarted their torrents yet. Once the 15-20 other people start their torrents back do not expect that kind of speed. He did say it's not nearly that and he's correct :P

Actually there are only 6 users on my box (or there were 6 yesterday, anyway)
But yes, most of the time I can only get 1-2mb/s upload on busy torrents, which is still great

That said, i'm noticing inconsistency in reporting stats to trackers correctly
Or maybe it just takes ages for TL to update

Hopefully it's just a glitch with TL and not something else...

And just to clarify, I'm not implying he's stealing my passkey (there's nothing extra on my snatchlist), just maybe that he's running a faulty client or something (tflux showed me to have DL'd 19gb on a torrent, which I didn't)

It's still set too low, something we aren't allow to alter. We used to be able to set # of connections, ports, time to seed etc but they took that off since some people were prolly setting them too high.

I have 2 seedboxes with different companies. I uploaded the same (spanking new on tracker) torrent to both boxes... SeedLayer connects to 0 seeds and 8 peers. My other box connects to 1 seed and 98 peers. HUGE difference. In the end I end up seeding a total of 3GB on SeedLayer and 46GB on my other box.

tflux3

I've bursted to 1MB/s also sometimes, but only because 1 of the 8 people I connect to actually has the bandwidth to accept such a large speed. I'd rather have more connections and a constant 200kB/s than a rare burst of high speed.

Of course none of this matters because SL oversells and will stop hosting flux after this month anyways. Just trying to get what I can out of this crappy service.

Hey, OP's friend here.

This is what they sent me later:

FTP details:
host: xx.xxx.xxx.xx
user: xxxx
pass: xxxx
port xx
Happy?

Am I happy? Not with this company. Doesn't help that they did a server reinstall and decided not to backup any data. Totally unprofessional, here's an email I got from another customer after they did the reinstall:

Hi Everyone!

If you haven't noticed... the twat at seedlayer CC'ed this E-Mail instead of
BCC meaning that all your E-Mails were visible to every one that got this
E-Mail, and from the looks of it they only have 11 customers on this server
with an average income of say $15 which equates to $165.00, I am sure the
server rental comes in at around this price, maybe more??? Which leaves no
room for them to put food on the table etc. and the way the server is
performing then there is no way they can shove more people on!

I for one am concerned at how insecure our other Information may be with
this mob, and how they are going to stay afloat, so I have jumped ship and
reported them to Paypal as this has been going on since day one!

This is just a bit of advice, jump ship from them before they go bust and
take your money, as I have seen it happen far too often, as I am sure most
of you have :)

Cheers,

Jared

This is their response:

Hello Sir/madam,

A person named "Jared" or with the email address [email protected]
just emailed everyone this junky email letter. Please ignore the message, because we have already dealt with him. He is just trying to get some attention :)

We have completed reinstalled the system, and your new login details will be sent very soon.

Again.. they fail to BCC..

/sigh

Yea I know, but server reboot was many hours ago during the afternoon. Even now it's no better (cept someone is actually downloading something now). This is with 17 people too... can't even top 1MB upload.

about seedlayer

seems cheap... but with so few peers conections its dificulty to use all upload speed unless those 10 peers realy have good connetions too.

go away. next time you should at least get your post count up rather than posting 100% of your messages about your service then lying about it. If your service was any good you wouldnt have to self promote

the seedbox service is called shellbox and your user name is shellmax but that must be another coincidence

integral

No need to be like that; even if the service is five-star, if no one knows about it, then how can you be so sure? And there are quite a few closet-torrenters who don't talk about what they do, including seedbox purchasing, so word of mouth can't be everything. Sometimes you just need to advertise yourself!

Besides all that, the key to being a good reseller is to be smart. Moreover, don't be greedy; crowding a bunch of people on one server and overcharging them isn't the way to go. You'll get customers who want refunds, badmouthing on forums such as these, and no word of mouth spread. You won't make money. Now, having a decent amount of users on each server, plus being upfront about the realistic speeds (not saying "100MBIT UNMETERED 10/MBS GUARANTEED") will do potentially two things; it will keep your customers, and it will get you good reviews on places like this, which will lead to more customers. Simple.

Seedx is kinda weird... it seems to fluctuate speeds for some reason (I have no idea why). One moment you could be seeding 5MB/s but then later on in the day it goes down to 10kB/s even tho you are still connected to 100's of peers... then the next day you're back at great speeds. Rinse and repeat.

I think maybe there is some kind of queue order between customers... so everyone on the same server has a fair chance to burst their speeds really high. It's definitely not a server "issue" or anything like that, it's very stable. Like I said, it's kinda weird :P
