Slow Trackers
When downloading from a private tracker is so painfully slow that you’ll be begging to go back to mininova, then it’s time to give ‘em the slip.
Cheggit.net
I’m not sure why this popular XXX tracker is so slow, it just is. I’m even less sure why it’s so popular.
Pretome
This suspicious spinoff from FunFile isn’t without controversy, but it is lacking decent DL speeds. FunFile isn’t much better.
Demonoid
I never knew what all the fuss was about when Demonoid was so highly-esteemed before the shutdown. Still don’t see what all the huzzah is about. The relaunched Demon still provides some predictably slow DL speeds, just like before.
Tophos.org, SmokingInTheRain, DigitalHive
No matter what torrents we tried, we still can’t generate anything faster than 120 KB/s.
Trackers with Ads
I can’t speak for everyone, but I flock to private trackers to get away from the annoying ads, not because I like ‘em. Here’s a few sites that’ll make you want to go watch TV instead.
http://minitm.org
MiniTM has an (almost) unavoidable popup ad that obnoxiously floats right in the middle of the screen during signup - we managed to tread carefully around it and sign up anyways. Now - the content: You’ll need to say "thanks" before downloading any torrent. Also, it’s a private tracker that runs public torrents from ThePirateBay - we couldn’t find any real private torrents, and received the following message with all of the torrents. No thanks.
http://torrent-fu*kers.com
TF brings you full page ads when clicking the ‘browse’ link. To add insult to injury, there’s only 1 torrent on this tracker (at last check) and the site repeatedly crashes Firefox. Run Forrest, run!
http://gamingbits.org
This one kinda made me chuckle. When you sign up, your email ‘confirmation’ link sends you to a totally different website, where they certainly get money for the redirects. Pure genius, really! With an Alexa rank of 21 million, rest assured you’re not missing out on the latest games.
http://blackz.sytes.net
Ho-Hum, another site with popups in the middle of the page when browsing torrents. You have two choices: Click the ad to make it go away, or try hard to navigate around it. Oh wait, there’s a third choice - leave and go to a tracker without the annoying ads.
http://the-new-generation.net
Just when you think you’re clicking the ‘right’ X to close the ad, it pops up anyways. Great marketing technique! Lots of torrents on this German site, though (1,500).
http://www.h33t.com
H33t uses shameless popup ads, not to mention the site is entirely full of ‘em, even between the torrents. Users will need to donate to have the ads removed. I removed the ads by going elsewhere.
Low-Content Trackers
When signing up on a new unknown tracker, it’s caveat-emptor. Sometimes you hit paydirt, and other times you find the fool’s gold. It goes to show how easy it is for just about anyone to install a Torrent Tracker script on a server, and then completely neglect it. These trackers will leave you asking for more.
http://darkbitz.com
Once you jump through the hoops & hurdles to sign up, you’ll regrettably realize there’s not one single torrent on this site. Darkbitz is probably the RIAA & MPAA’s favourite tracker. Oh, and there’s full-screen popup ads to boot.
http://visualunderground.org
Nothing truly horrible to report here, aside from the fact that there’s only 69 torrents and they’re all from public sites. The last uploaded torrent was over a month ago. How’d we find this one, again?
http://www.dreamora.com
Dreamora looks promising, but the link to the torrents / tracker is dead. Don’t bother trying to complain about it in the forums, either - you won’t be able to comment or post new topics even when logged in. A torrent site without a tracker is like a car without an engine.
http://dreamers4you.org
The image ‘verification’ part of the script is broken, so you’ll not be able to signup even if you wanted to. With an Alexa rank of 28-million, we suspect there’s nothing in there anyways.
http://www.amateur-hour.net
It’s sad when a tracker becomes elitist with just 41 torrents. Must be some kick-ass stuff in there!
http://www.ireal.ro
Not too much going on here with just 31 torrents. I guess because they’re all Pr0n torrents it makes it more redeeming?
http://forestanime.com
6 torrents and 68 users!
http://torrent.mnetfmdownload.net
Not a single torrent, folks. Signed up about 4 weeks ago and it’s the same ol’ song & dance.
http://tha-tracker.net
16 registered users sharing 0 torrents. What’s going on in there?
