hi, this is urgent
can anyone please give any help/info about exactly what a "sophos" virus does and how to remove/identify it please
as far as i can see its an anti-virus prog

my bro has just phoned from his work and said they have been attacked by a sophos virus
i'd never heard of it and all i can find is an av page

A damn good one at that. Its just as good as norton. I used sophos for a couple of years. ;)

sorry, i've already done a few searches before i asked, but occasionally people who've been involved in what is asked can give better specific info than a search can

Doesn't he know the full name of the virus?
Sophos is a legitimate AV company, with mostly corporate users.

he just phoned a few minutes ago and asked me to find out any info on a sophos virus because his work computers had just been attacked by one

i'll just need to wait for more info i suppose
sure it couldnt be a virus, and the antivirus hes using is sophos, and in the panic he got confused

this seems to be exactly what has happened
he just phoned back there and said that there and said they were infected with W32 Nachi (http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/w32nachia.html) (aka MSblast)

Confusion is also created due to the many different names MSBLAST gets from different AV firms.

now all they have to do is figure out how to get infected by the W32.Welchia.Worm, and everything will be ok again :lol:
