try opening the file in VirtualDub and going to audio>full processing mode

then go to file>save wav and choose a destination and filename

then save the wav (audio) of the file.

now open tmpgenc and drop the original file (with the out of sync video and audio) into the video section and the new file (the wav you saved from the original) into the audio section

then just output the file to a new mpg

this should work

edit: if you're trying to play an avi file, your system may be too slow to cope with the file, so the video might lag behind audio.

can you post system specs? like cpu, ram, etc...?

You might try playing the file with VideoLAN ( available from the dl section of the home page ).

What are your pc specs?
What player are you using?

For example,

MY pc sux ass I only have 400mhz of cpu power so when i play a high resolution video in WMP9 it's all messed up, but if i play it in divx player it runs smoothly
