Hi.. I got a maxtor 80gig 7600 udma hdd.. It says that it has a 2gig cache. Just wondered exactly what that means... How to optimize it really is my question.

don't you mean 2 mb.
it is used as temp storage for files being moved around. generally the more you have the faster it is.

lol, no not 2 gig.
probably 2 meg.
Better ones are 8 meg. It really doesn't matter much, your system will manage it.
are you sure it's 7600 and not 7200?
