I download mainly DVD-R's and burn them to disk to watch on my tv with the surround sound system.

Occasionally I'll download an avi and watch it through my xbox but I prefer 5 channels to 2

Use VLC Media Player to watch all DVDR and Xvid. If I like the DVDR I burn the iso or img using NERO and track all my dvd collection using Collectorz MyDVDs.

I download AVIs or ISOs and watch 'em on computer with small screen or burn a DVD and play on big screen with DIVX DVD player. Most AVIs play on DIVX players and you can squeeze five or so movies onto one DVD+R without transcoding.

I used to download only 700mb Avi dvd rips and burning them to DVD-r to watch on a divx dvd player. But since last month I started to get 720p movies so I opened a hole in the wall (PC room and TV are ajacent:shifty:) and passed a hdmi cable through so I can watch the movies directly from the PC. I use XBMC as media center and it's very cool.

the wife is still pissed about that hole though. :whistling

Same here. DVDs for films. Standard XviD avi's for TV shows which I either burn to disc or stick on my 2.5" HDD player. Either way it's watched on my big screen TV.

Depends on the quality. Normal Avi's I'll watch them on my Xbox. For HD rips I'll use my 32" HD TV as monitor. BTW the Xbox is the most amazing media player you can use. If it only could handle HD rips as well. DVDs I'll watch on my Xbox as well.

I dont d/l movies.
I rent them.
Rip them, and then burn to a DVD-RW.
Then I watch them in vob format on my PC as I find a vob takes about half an hour which means I can watch the movie in several goes, as I am always busy and don't have 2 hours to watch a movie in full. As well as that I tend to fall asleep watching a full movie.

I usually download XviD and stream it to my Xbox1 running XBMC. It's hooked up to an SDTV because DVDRips are pretty crap quality, so I find it looks better than on an HDTV.

Occasionally I download some 720p and I play those on my PC, hooked up to a 24" LCD. Very rarely I might get some 1080p but my CPU is too slow to play those, so I stream them to my Xbox 360. :)

i watch my videos on Gom Player first
if it fails it finds the correct codec for the video, you can down and setup, after that enjoy, it is easy.
if all these don not work, i prefer VLC

Until a few weeks ago I downloaded most movies in avi from an open tracker and watched them on my Infocus X2 beamer.
Unfortunately after 3 years it is now broken and the repair would be too expensive. So at the moment I have to watch everything on a 15,4" Notebook screen...

Mostly I download 720p movies and Tv Episodes and watch them either in my 22" pc Monitor or my 36" LCD TV.
(I have an ATI 2400 HD Card, so i have my Tv connected via HDMI),
and the audio goes from the Riviera soundcard to my Samsung HT [800w/DTS] via optic cable.

I still download a stuff in Divx/Xvid for watching in my Zen W,
and if it's something rare I still keep it even if it's not in HD.

Available and fresh movies/TV series - 720p. Old stuff (art films and rare experimental videos - Karagarga, Secret Cinema...) - DivX.

Everything is playing on my LG L222WS 22" display. :)

Video player is Media Player Classic.

P.S. I am saving for a high-class 24" display...

I download a film or tv-episode with as good quality as possible, but no dvd;s. Watch on my Pc with media player classic on a 24 inch lcd(widescreen). If the codec is dodgy I use VLC.

I recently also have used my Asus EEE 901, which works great when using Windows XP (the default Xandros linux was really bad for video for some reason).
