How Much Do You 56k Modem Users Download?

i am on dialup 56 k modem and i have this program called DUMeter which tells me i download about 400 MB everyday. I get upto 8 GB each month. how much do u guys download if you guys are dialup 56 k modem users dialy and monthy in all up and who is ur ISP? im just interested! thanx! :D

400mb a day? Do you leave it on 24hrs? I try to download a movie a week. Thats leaving it on over night for about 8-9hrs a night. Seems like whenever I try to download a movie, I always get like 3kb/s. I know I can get more(downloaded Freddy vs Jason trailer at 6.5kb/s). It's terrible, no one will give you bandwith anymore considering most are on broadband. Thats just selfish. I would switch to broadband but we can't cable or dsl and satellite is like 100 bucks a month. Stupid cable company laughs at us when we ask them to put it on are road. The cable line stops like 2 miles down the road. Fuckers!!

well i dont leave it 24 hrs cos it has 5 hr session limits. i get bout 20 hrs a day. i used to be on broadband cable with Telstra cos i live in Australia but i changed cos of the 3 GB limit. i dont have many other options available

i dunno how much i download a day but my connection is on 24hrs a day. it cuts itself out every 2 hours but i made it redial automatically so i dont have to check up on it. i guess i download about 300mb a day maybe a bit more. it all depends what sort of speeds i get

i'm on Freeserve AnyTime 56k just now.
session limits of 2 hours, which is pretty annoying.
leave it connected pretty much constantly, my average is about 80% connected in the past 4 months.
if i'm constantly downloading i get about 400 meg a day, though i don't always leave it downloading. sometimes i just leave it on to browse or chat

edit: @justin, some isp's just like to limit dial up users so they don't download huge files

i thought all dialup connection have session limits and cut after few hrs? apparently its so all users can have a fair go on the internet or some shit.

tell me about it, it sucks. Last night, I was d/l Pirates of the Caribbean and there was like 100 users, none would let me connect. I d/l from one user all night at 1kb/s or lower. 30mb in 10hrs, not right.

400 meg on 56k man thats not all that bad. When I had 56k I was lucky to get 100 meg and that was leaving it on 24-7. Thank god for cable, 45 bucks a month isn't cheap but its well worth it.

do u guys need DU Meter to keep up with connection stats? tell me if u do.

when ur downloading from kazaalite it might say ur getting 3 kbs but its prolly going faster. i keep a stopwatch running in DU Meter to see my average transfer rate and it is either 6 or 5.6 kbs and that isnt that bad.

on a good day, i might get to download 200mb.
i connect to the internet 8-10am / 10-12pm / 1-3pm / 5-7pm / 9-11pm on weekends when i've got nothing better to do, so on these days i might get 200mb.

Well i can get about 100mb in 8 hours, so i can dl 400 mb in 24hrs. but since i don't have another phone line i can only get about 4-5 hours of pure uncut dling. i don't get anyrestrictions, since i'm using a company that is fairly big, but doesn't have enough users to fill their servers yet...

I'm on ADSL, fortunately for me I have several options, cable, DSL satellite, I chose DSL 'cos it's cheaper and has 2x faster UL speed. Satellite is only one-way for residential at the moment, but the most I've downloaded in a day was 1.8GB. Typically download > 80MB per day (usual internet surfing) otherwise up to or past 1GB.

Whn i had 56k ( i had BT Pay As U Go) i only downloaded a lame 15-20meg a day.
the odd weekend i wud get a tmd movie. the max i gt was 5k!

It's true tho i get... ( depending wot movies iam downloading) an average of 8 movies a week.. Plus the porn.. so it more than justifies the cost of my ADSL line..

im on 56k (as broadband isnt in my area) and the most i can download is 20MB for every hour i am online, i dont yet know what the cut off is for freeserve anytime as i usually disconnect and redail agin every 1 and a half hours ;) ;) ;)

as a recent convert to broadband i have no idea what i get as im too afraid of going over my limit and comming to the notice of my isp (aol...no dont start), but not all broadbanders are the same, i always try to stay on unils a 56'er has finished the downlod...been there ..done that..know the frustrations, some broadbanders have an elitest atittude, we should all remember where we started...lol :D

sorry bout the pushyness bout the DU Meter. i just wanted to see how much u guys get out of ur dialup connection. if u wanna d.l it, goto kazaalite, search in software for 'DU Meter' and get the one that has a key gen with it. my version is 3.03 build 96.

i guess i do d.l quite a bit for dialup. i have a 40 GB and a 55 GB HDD and i have bout 4 GB left in total. :P

at the moment, i don't think many people are gonna blindly download from kazaa...too many virii and fake files floating about

a better way is simply to dl the program from the smart ftp site and crack it from www.andr.net

Some of u guys make me sick...my dial up must really suck, not to mention the isp's here in Thailand. I've been using DU Meter for a few months now and my absolute best day in the past few months is 203.72mb for 15 hr and 49 min. It is virtually impossible for me to stay connected 24 hours in a given day cause at about 2 or 3 pm here itll cut off and it wont let me back on till around midnight. Heres a nica crappy one for you to make all u guys feel better.... connection time 11 hrs 22 min, total dl 65.48 mb. total ul 40.65 mb. That's about an average of 6mb for every hour...a little less. Oh, heres one more to make you even happier 4 hrs 2 min...16.78 mb dl....ul 12.34! Hogster if I could do 80 megs in a 4 hour session I think I would have a heart attack.

When I was on 56K in napster days, I had an autoconector and could hit about 450mb a day if i was lucky. now i have a 1.2mb adsl line and i can get as much as 10gb a day
