I like Grabit.
Nice and simple, gets the job done without a lot of settings or bells and whistles that aren't needed.

Alt.Binz 0.28.1(can't seem to find 0.28.2)

Besides Alt.Binz, I like GrabIt. I'm really wanting to try out SABnzbd for Linux, but can't seem to figure out how to install it. Some things on Linux are a real pain in the ass to install.

I've tried many grabbers since I use newsgroups (Newsleecher, Newsbin, Grabit...)
And Alt.Binz is definitely for me the easiest and the more powerful one :)

- It's a "donationware", not a commercial project, and the author is ready to listen to suggestions and problems
- It integrates perfectly the major search engines with all their features (SSL, collection selection, RSS, groups browsing, nzb making).
- Its par2.exe is an improved version by the author, increasing performance with last CPU and reducing errors of the official par2 module
- Its repairing/unraring features are very advanced (ability to keep, move of erase some files in the target directory like nfo, jpg)
- It has many usefull original features like the "NZB Play" : ability to launch movies playing as soon as you begin to download it.

:)

Surprised Newsbin Pro is way behind the rest. Have used both Newsleecher and Grabit but Pro was that good I bought it. Try before you buy.......

i used grab it until i discovered newsleecher... so much better and faster! i love that it downloads the par files, only the required ones when needed and it does take as much system resources as grabit.

I'm on mac and Unison is really cool ... but i use Hellanzb for binaries.
Its so easy... you put an NZB in a directory and bam : download, par2/par1 verification, unrar, joining split... you have nothing to do.

Works on linux too (of course).

No doubt the best reader IMO. Uses least ram and cpu usage over any others I have tried, since it's web-based I can also control my downloads remotely! :)

Yup it can..

It's uses a shit load of resources if you download a lot but I used it before to download small stuff. But that is 10 years ago or something.

My first post!
I signed up for this website to research this topic exactly!
I've been using GrabIt for the last week and its going pretty well
but I was wondering if there was anything better.
It only dls 3 threads at a time... I know some readers dl 20!
is there something in the settings that I am missing? or is that
all the free versions offer?
what do Alt.bin and Newsleecher offer?

Grabit can use more connections if you adjust the settings, though I'd recommend Alt.Binz as the best free client.
