View Full Version : Why do I only get 60k?
Ugh, this is like maxing out a dial up connection. Im going at about 60k here, and maxing out it would be about 700k...
This is about the same speed i get on http downloads, maybe the same problem with both?
Edit: Yup, I just did a giganews speed-prediction test using the European one and got about 500k. Sure giganews might be a little faster then the hitnews.eu, but obviously not that much.

Tried other ports?
Any reccomendations? So far just the default, 119, and a random try: 34.

I don't know much about them but if you are able to use SSL on your account:
Server Address: ssl.hitnews.eu
Port: 563 or 995
That usually helps if ISP is throttling something.

perhaps your ISP link isnt as fast as you think it is ?
have you always had http speed issues, or is that a recent think ?
run the speedtest on dslreports.com and let us know the results ?
Any chance you can try to download from an FTP server that you know should have good throughput ?
Looks like i mixed up kiloBITS and KB/s.
*facepalm*
But if http and usenet usually go at the same speed whats the advantage of using usenet?

hitnews prob blocked your ip if u are using the 3day trial :yup:, just buy a 20$ usenetvault acc
Why would they block it? I bought a month, sharing it with some people. It's pretty sweet.
I'd still like to here some peoples opinions on http v. usenet though.

I don't understand, http v. usenet?
Internet vs. Usenet?
How do they compare for downloading, what advantages does usenet downloading have.

If you can find the same shit on the regular web, that you can find on usenet, I'd like the name of the search engine that you are using... lol.

usenet gives maximum speeds that your internet connection can have, no waiting for seeders etc
