wtf is up with that? am i the only one thinks that the laugh trackis kinda out there :lol: like twilight zone stuff , it scares me to hear laughter and no one is really there, lol:lol:

I hate it when shows have that. They seem to phoney. You hear it almost every 5 seconds and even when nothing funny is said or done. It's like they either digital put the audio in or they have a actual audience but a sign comes on telling them when to laugh. so fake and lame

The reasoning behind it is it acts as audio cue to get you to laugh(along with the track) with what is presented on screen.In effect tricking you into thinking something is funnier than it is.
Very Pavlovian but proven to work.

It may be proven to work, but I hate it.

Especially when the laughs all sound the same and when the jokes are really weak.

Oh, I don't know...some shows benefit greatly from a laughtrack.
The Sopranos and anything on Fox News, for instance.
