If you're worried about temperature, don't bother with the GX2, try getting the GTX260 card.. its a little bit pricier but you get good performance with it and the temp/power consumption isn't as high.

Also, if you're going all out, why are you settling for 2gb ram? You should at least bump it to 4-8GB.

My advice is do what I am doing, wait for the new i7 core CPU's due out the end of this year. They are supposed to be 20% faster and 30% lower power usage. You will need to go with DDR3 memory though, but for the cash you are looking to drop I'd say wait for it man. I will prob spend some obscene amt of green when they first drop but if your going to spend this all now you should wait :)

I also think you should go Corsair 620 for the PSU

I would have to say nix the 500 gig internal for 2 smaller HDs. A pair of 80 gigs for OS and programs, set up on raid of course. The pick up the largest external for storage.
and the gtx 260 will do just fine

He could even pick up the velociraptor 150GB on newegg for about 150. that'd be an awsome boot drive.

the largest external for storage is the 1TB mybook from WD
