I'm looking in to finally loosing dial-up for good, but I was just wondering how long it takes to download a movie, song etc on a cable connection. My sister and I were having a debate about this and I would like to know exataclly the time it takes for anything.

about 2-6 hours. Longer if you try getting it from the "software" section ;)

It matters how fast the connection u got is I got a 640/144 (download/upload) it takes bout 3 hours to download a 700 mb file that&#39;s about 80kB/s down and 18kb/s up

512k - 600k About 2.5 Hours at max speed. 50kb/s to 63kb/s.
1mbit About 1.5Hours at max speed. 140kb/s - 160kb/s
Then you go expensive upwards for there on.
