I like these releases as they have a bunch of directors cut, extended edition etc.

I don't see the problem with passwords as you get it when you download the nzb anyway.

What sense does that make?

Why PW it in the first place? To show us you know how to tie your shoes? Pointless.

Just on one facet of this, so all those threads on d/l failures, continually chasing after 'lost' parts/pars, etc. ad infinitum...
are bogus?

I probably d/l about 50+% of these postings, have never had one wit of problems with them (going back what... at least a year or more). I continually have to 'chase' fills on postings, on some of the more rare stuff, even with a GN account.

I think the explanation is pretty straightforward. Although usenet has become VERY solid in the last handful of years, compared to even 10 years ago, it isn't perfect.

What's interesting is, that the 'system' caters to those 'old tymers' who still d/l headers, else the postings would never have been found, as rarely (if ever) I see them listed on Newzbin.

But it works for me. I dislike 'recode' postings that the decisions made (by the recoder) don't match what I would 'slice and dice' the disc to. And it always seems (with a fair regularity) that the postings are things either never seen on usenet (or butchered), and not available on the popular disc rental schemes.

But hey, like everything, you can join in or not.

It's right there (the listing) 'embedded' in the nzb, but I thought I'd post it in the forum here for those who don't either trip across the postings here (mostly from WHiKWiRE), and such.

Another big thing, is that the rips are VERY clean; when I load them up into DVDRemake, I get no errors or reconstructions, and no 'junk' whatsoever from/in the rip, unlink most of the other newer dvd downloads. And the rip is 100% as well, no extras, cdrom stuff, or the link 'stripped out'.

Obviously, the posting rate is fairly slow. But it's usually worth the wait.

Hi Guys

These releases are some of the best on the NG's, no bullshit 1:1 copies.

These are for those of us that prefer to get the full picture in the best quality with the choice to edit that which we don't want or need.

One day everyone will see the light and not just accept poor rips/recodes etc

I'll be checking back for future release information

What I 'figured out' quite a while back, is to 'split' the dvd9 into movie/extras with DVDRemake, doing very light recode (usually, sometimes no recode necessary)on the movie, and the extras onto another burn. Before I 'broke down' and paid for DVDRemake, I used CloneDVD to split the parts apart, so to speak.

The number of DVD9 postings have virtually exploded in the last year or so, especially 'older' movies (classics). I d/l virtually 24/7, and have had to 're-invent' my system a couple of times to catalog and store the things. Virtually all I but as far as blanks are Ritek 8X hub inkjet printable, around 25cents each in quantity. For the occasional DVD9 burn, Verbatim 6x DL, ~$1.50/ea.

Final system now in use: I use the 'Case Logic' Sleeves, 3ring binder type, 8 CD/DVD's per page (do a search for the 'CDP25'), comes 25ea or 200 CD/DVD's per. Then, the 3ring binders: The best are the Avery 01320 Heavy Duty 'Extra Wide' binders. Perfect fit all around.

The Case Logic sleeves, around $20/ea (for the 25 pages/200 cd/dvd), and the binders around $9/ea (can get 12 sheets in each binder). So, doing the arithmetic, costs around 20cents per DVD to store.
