I just installed Mediapeek Pro and works really ,has no spyware .Too bad is shareware .Get it now if you want to avoid fake movies .Who knows, maybe a serial comes out later,or maybe i will buy this .Works with KazaaLite,i have 2.4.1.
You can see thumbnails of every movie right after you started the download, if another connected MediaPeek users has a preview of that movie. Your downloads are 'fake-protected', you can be sure to download exactly the movie you saw in the preview. You can also repair and preview partial downloaded movie files and export thumbnails as images or HTML-pages. Works with Kazaa and Kazaa-Lite.
So,even if you player can't run a movie (AviPreview,VideoLan.....) you can see the thumbnails.

Tried the Basic Version! Works okay.

But how safe is this? Isn't this a great tool for the MPAA to track moviesharers?

Because avi-preview can show you only what you HAVE ALLREADY DOWNLOADED
MediaPeek will show you thumbnails from the beginning to the end of a movie - even if you have NOT DOWNLOADED a single byte of the movie.
And it works for all formats, AVI, MPEG, whatever...

From the main site:

"Why is it free?

For two reasons: The more people use MediaPeek, the more likely it is that the other user sharing a movie will also have the preview- files. To make many people use the program, it's best (of course) to make it free. Secondly: We hope that if many people use it, there also many how like it so much that they will choose to use the PRO version witch has even greater features (but is not free)."

Isn't this program a trial version? How can it be free?

Even if you don't pay, you can use it for free even after the 30 days trial. Only some functions like HTML export are disabled! And there is a free basic version too.

This sounds like a waste of time to me.
It seems like it does the job of any other preview program (like ‘.dat file viewer’ by ‘idleloop’ – I recommend by the way, top file for previewing partially downloaded files), only makes it more complicated than it has to be.
People rename files because they are lonely, pathetic w**kers, with nothing better to do with their spare time than waste other peoples time.
Once (if) this software gets going, it may help make sure you get the correct movie (although with only 16 small thumbnails, it’s still quite hard to see if your downloading the right movie – especially if you haven’t watched that movie before), but the time you spend messing around with this, you may have well have downloaded part of the movie and checked that out. Besides, not only do I want to check that I have the correct movie, but I want to check the quality (especially with TV shows), and to check this you will have to download part of the file first.
I think I will just stick with my ‘.dat viewer’ for now, and hope that the people who rename files grow up – otherwise people will get pissed off and stop sharing, and we’ll all lose out.

yes, it is pathetic from the the people that created the file and ones who dl and never rename it. as for the mediapeek qlty i'd prefer to leave it for SharedHolder to answer, he knows better. send him PM.

I've never tried the software, and I am going by reviews (like most people do when they are looking for new software - like your giving us with this post - a review!).

Download.com Review - This tool, designed primarily for Kazaa users, creates thumbnails of videos and lets you view movie files before they finish downloading. The interface is not a stunner, but, in general, the program is easy to use. It recognizes files in your Kazaa shared folder and detects started downloads. After retrieving part of a file, you can create a preview index, a set of up to 16 thumbnail images taken from the downloaded fragment, and save it in JPEG or HTML format. However, you cannot change the size of thumbnails or create more than 16, so you may still have difficulty making out the film contents. You can view the movie beginning from any thumbnail. Supported formats are limited only by your own codecs. The features above are not unique, though. What really distinguishes MediaPeek is its file-sharing functionality. You can share the indexes you created and have Kazaa download a file you choose based on viewing another user's index. The program works for Kazaa users who frequently exchange movies.

I'm more than happy for this software to be great and a big sucess, and if it is better than all the other programs then i'll surely give it a go. But from what I read on Download.com (which is where your link took me), it doesn't sound like it's worth it.
But hey, if you say it's worth it, i'll give it a go!
