Rumours says that NB shutdown due to avoiding media attention. Is that true?

It is true that someone calling themselfes "MORRADi" (norwegian for 'yo mama') has claimed responsibility. At first people thought it was the scene getting revenge or something but a .nfo has been released from the norwegian scene where they state that MORRADi is not scene and the norwegian scene would not use means like DDoS`ing Norbits.

After all, Norbits is helping the scene because it shifts the focus away from the scene and on to Norbits.

And regarding the rumors about our userdatabase beeing stolen, how should that be possible? Just because they are using DDoS doesnt mean they get free access to our files ^^. And for the record, our data is encrypted so no worries there afaik.

IRC is up atm but you wont be able to access #Norbits due to our invite system. I cleared out the approved list a while back so in order to be approved as a NB member the bot will have to check your IRC key with Norbits .. And thats kinda hard when NB is down ^^

And, no news atm about site staus. We are working on a solution and Norbits will return. I just dont know when.

Btw, Norbits has three year bitrhday 27sep :)

Several people with connections to NB have said they are working on bringing it back. It's not the first tracker to be down for that long and come back.

It's kind of a joke with the webshop thingy..
There's actually a norwegian company named "norbits", www.norbits.no (http://www.norbits.no) :p So anyone trying norbits.net will get redirected to norbits.no, dunno why they did that.. ^^

Anyhow, the site is down and the tracker is down. It is still DDOS'd, probably by some kids from 14 and down, at least mentally.

The DDOS has been reported to the police by the hosting company, so hopefully they will own the kid trying to act kewl.

They're NOT sceners, cause they actually love us <3
The group who DDOS'd the site wrote an NFO, but due to their lack of... well, connections to any remotely connected to the scene, they just sent it to NB-staffers via e-mail.. lol :p Didn't see why they had to make it an NFO, they could've just sent a txt, but if you want to be scene, you want to be scene, I guess..

They're not hiding from the media.. That's 100% false :)

EDIT: Btw, they do not have any information on the users. They DDOS'd the site, that's all.
Some people somehow connects a DDOS to an actual hacking of a site, grabbing whatever they want.

Got some news this time ^^

We are at the moment looking for a new host that we can count on. We do have regular stab meetings and things are moving forwards. We also got control over the domain and a blog is up at http://norbits.blogspot.com/
(This is in norwegian only)

So we are still working on a solution and if anyone got a good hostingcompany we can use please pm me :)

Norbits has never gone opensignup, as far as I know, and probably never will. I don't think they'll change their invite system either; you'll need to find a friend from a Nordic country. Or you could make a big contribution to some low level swedish trackers, then maybe someone will notice you.

Of course it's very important to know Swedish too. Not because they don't have mostly English torrents (they do), but because you want to be active in the forums and IRC where I'm assuming most people speak the native language.

Invites are closed and that message just hasn't been changed.

Anyways it says: "Max userlimit (3,000) has been reached. Please try back later since accounts get pruned for inactivity". Something you would normally see on an open registration tracker, which NB is not.
